A sad and evil time, and evil men and seducers will wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.

We are in a pickle!
Pity. I wanted to read this but my eyes hurt too much. Getting older.
I doubt the violent video game connection will fly, much like the rock ‘n’ roll and violence connection, or the EC comics books and violence connection.
The simple reason is that violent video games are played by an enormous number of people who *don’t* commit heinous crimes.
And even those among them with a preponderance towards violence are likely to admit that violent video games, for them, are ways of “acting out” violent emotions, so they are *less* inclined to do so in the real world.
As far as atheism goes, I also suspect more than the “thing in itself”, that children who are raised to or adopt atheism have lots of other problems as well.
This is demonstrated by the large numbers who are “atheist” only in so far as they are utterly indifferent to religion; compared to “proselytizing atheists”, who *hate* religion and want to destroy it, as well as convert others to their “cause”. Again, far more issues in their lives than just atheism.
“Ninety-seven percent of young respondents play video games. That’s 99% of boys and 94% of girls, with little difference in the percentages among various racial and ethnic groups and incomes.”
If 99% of boys play video games, video game playing is not correlated with mass killing.
