“And a market wouldn’t emerge to service these people?”

No. Business exist to make money. That is why it never existed before. Few people could ever afford what it would cost.

People on our side have a bizarre idea that the market is some magical wish-filling machine like the left sees the state as.

It would be a different landscape than before.

If the state boundaries were eliminated, and companies were able to create risk pools that were much larger, wouldn't they be able to amortize that cost across a much larger contributor base?

Granted that healthy people (without pre-existing conditions) would be in different risk pools, but couldn't a pre-existing risk pool be made viable if the pool were large enough, even accepting that their premiums would be higher than healthy risk pools?
