We will not be stuck with Obamacare forever because it will collapse under a mountain of debt. We will go back to buying healthcare for ourselves as we used to. Government screws up everything it touches...but you knew that.

Nonsense. The House could draft a new bill and pass it to the Senate tomorrow. Just because this bill is dead doesn't mean the issue is dead.

Trump should veto anything that comes out later. He devoted a huge effort to get this bill passed in the House. If a consensus could not be reached now, it is difficult to believe that something down the road will come out of a dysfunctional GOP House.

Trump doesn't suffer fools gladly. Let's have the vote and see who votes against the bill. There will be more than 200 Reps will will vote for it. Let's get it all on the record and then figure out how to deal with the naysayers.

I hope I never hear “We are going to Repeal Obamacare” ever again. It’s the law now. Fix it, leave it alone. Doesn’t matter. Stop pretending you’re against it now.

Have the vote and get all those republicans that prefer Obamacare on the record. All those votes for repeal, and nothing to replace, by the Free-dumb Cuck-os will have Obamacare smeared on them like crap on a shoe.

This whole affair seems to be an elaborate charade. Why even have a parliamentary vote to advance the bill if you know you lack votes for passage? Doesn’t make sense. Not sure what Trump’s long game might be - but tax cuts should have come first. Then again, it is CNN...

LOL, you couldn’t be more wrong. The reason Ryan isn’t bringing the bill to a vote is that he is embarrassed by how few votes it will get.

First the Senate needs to do away with the “gentlemans filibuster” in which you can filibuster a bull by simply announcing it. Make them actually stand in the well and hold the floor for as long as they can. Then we need to send the Gorsuch nomination and a clean repeal or sunset down the pipe and let them actually filibuster if they don’t want to allow cloture. If they can stop these bills for 22 months we will then use their obstruction against them in the 2018 elections.

And he should keep the IRS from demanding those forms if possible because that is a part of having Obamacare implode on its own.

At some point, however, he will need to sign a bill that forgives people for not paying the Obamacare penalty.

If the President can oversee an implosion, this is how it can work itself out:

Unfortunately, there will be a lot of suffering in the interim.

“Isn’t Pence pushing this too? So it’s both of them?”

Well yeah, but honestly Pence supporting it doesn’t surprise me.

Only the establishment could have taken this golden opportunity and turned it into a turd.

And that’s exactly what they did.

Trump screwed us. Period.

Trump doesn’t control the Legislative or Judicial branch. He can work with them
but they are independent sectors of our gov’t triad.

“Ryan has plenty of votes for a full repeal.”

Honest question: how do you figure?

Another FReeper is berating me that there’s nowhere close to enough for outright repeal.

The reconciliation process as stated by the GOPe is an out right lie that many have bought into hook line and sinker!

Needing 60 to overturn this thing is complete and utter hogwash and an argument used widely by the GOPe. Ryan himself (when he was busy trying to overturn it during the last admin) said over 85% could be overturned through budget reconciliation. Want to know why? Because every damn trigger and I mean every single regulation underpinning this law is a budgetary item. Because to enforce said regulation you have to fund the necessary staff to enforce it! So yes this thing can be completely overturned in its entirety. The only problem is gullible people have bought the kinnard (including Trump) that 60 is required.

Trump could have a big success here IF he stops with deadlines, sides with the conservatives and truly negotiates a bill.i>

Side with which conservatives? There are plenty of conservatives like Steve King and Marsha Blackburn who have stated that they will vote for the bill.

There were plenty conservatives who were part of the #NeverTrump movement. Cruz and Lee were certainly not on the Trump train.

Ryan set up Trump on the first big legislative issue that divided
the GOP. Not united them like cutting taxes.

Ryan should resign his non leadership post.

“Ryan to Trump: We Don’t Have the Votes”

Reminds me of the old joke with the punch line:

Tonto: What do you mean “we”, white man?
