There is now questions of whether North Korea has prepped a test site designed to test a multistage weapon—e.g., a thermonuclear bomb. If the ground shakes with much higher force than before, then North Korea has demonstrated it can build a bomb in (at minimum) 200 KT range, and the missile warhead could be as powerful as 300 KT. A 300 KT warhead could cause enormous damage in the target area even if the warhead is a mile off from the intended target.

HOW DID WE GET TO THIS POINT?

WHATEVER WE’RE PAYING OUR ‘INTELLIGENCE SERVICES’ IT’S TOO MUCH.

SAME WITH THE ‘STATE DEPARTMENT’.

IF THIS IS THE BEST THEY CAN DO - IF THIS TYPE OF HORROR ‘JUST HAPPENS’ ON THEIR WATCH - THEN LET’S SAVE THE MONEY - AND DISBAND THESE GROUPS.

(well, unless it explodes on launch)

Even if the Norkies screwed up the launch up on their own account, how about a nice international disinformation campaign for the USA to claim credit that a system of sabotage was employed which brought the rocket to smithereens? It would make Pyongyang very angry, but it would be their words against the USA. And might force them to make statements providing even more insight into their launch capabilities. Just saying, we might want to play with their brains. Take credit for their failure.
