Nonvolatile stuff is all the rage right now, but ypu’re right... HDDs are still getting sold at a healthy clip. I hear “experts” say oisk storage is on the way out, but that was said about magnetic tape 20 years ago. Almost every major company still uses some magnetic tape for backup, at least in part.
