That's a perfectly understandable reaction: but if I may say so, not particularly logical (at least as far as the risks of visiting the UK are concerned). In the 12 years (almost) from the 1995 London Tube bombings to this week, there was only one fatality from Islamic terrorism in the UK, and that was the street killing of the soldier Lee Rigby. Over that same period in the U.S. itself, there were 79 such fatalities (Fort Hood, Boston, San Bernardino, Orlando). In that same period again, there had been some 36 million visits to the UK by US citizens.
Thanks-— I am astonished that so many FReepers say they will avoid Europe.
We have Chicago,Baltimore, and Memphis-——I rest my case.

“........there had been some 36 million visits to the UK by US citizens.”.....
“So far so good”, those visitors were in the right place at the right time, then there are those who were UNLUCKY to be in the wrong place and the right time. In America, I can carry my own protection for those “Just In Case” times. At least I can protect myself or my loved ones.
I neglected to say that I have little desire to leave my Cow Town of 288 people, either. ;)
By all means, travel the world as you see fit. Don’t count on changing my mind, though. I spent all of my 20’s and most of my 30’s traveling with the Army and later for business.
I’m done. I like where I am and will continue to bloom where I’m currently planted. :)
I am more concerned by what is in store for the future. Europe have been overwhelmed by immigrants who refuse to assimilate.
