Chaplain’s tend to be much older than their commissioned. The military requires Bachelor degree, a master degree, and full ordination. On top of that most denominations require years of experience. So, generally you’d be thinking about 30 before they’ve met the requirements. In my case, I did have prior enlisted service, so with all the other requirements I wasn’t back on active duty til I was 33.
Somewhere upthread someone seemed to indicate this calain is Lutheran Miss. Synod. If so, he would have had to have gone through all those years I mentioned above.
