The US-led coalition has airdropped allied Syrian fighters near the Isil-controlled city of Raqqa in a surprise attempt to cut off the jihadists main route out.
The operation aims to secure the strategic Tabqa dam across the Euphrates river and isolate the capital of Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isils) so-called caliphate from the rest of the groups territory in Syria.
Five helicopters, supported by five fighter jets, dropped dozens of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) fighters near the northern town of Shurfa on Wednesday afternoon, according to local media reports.

Obama was pressured by public outrage over ISIS about to over run and kill a lot of primarily women (heard 7-13,000 depending on definition, some young) in a place called Kobani. He finally relented and gave air cover, knocked out ISIS armor and shot up their heavy weapons.
They dropped in an air drop of supplies and ammo (around 11-12 Oct 2014)and the Kurdish women and a few men in the beginning killed a lot of ISIS animals. Some Kurd fighters from outside the area came and ISIS was defeated there. That was the first time local forces had ended an ISIS siege. If you missed that event, I am sorry.
I assure you I did not.
It is legendary not. And it changed Syrian Kurds totally.
Obama before leaving office had “advised” Trump to partner with the Kurds to end ISIS. Trump’s advisors looked at the plan and nixed it, but after evaluation decided he was right the Kurds were the best solution.
I don’t want our soldiers overseas at all. Only when absolutely necessary.
But Obama and Hillary created the anti Assad forces that were trying to make a regime change in Syria. ISIS was an outgrowth of that) It has been going on for 6 years.
Trump said he would end ISIS and he will. There is meeting of 68 nations in the US Secretary of State offices, I think tomorrow. That will be the 1st time they have all been convened. It’s time to get er done.
They are already here....
In a separate report on a pro-regime website, I was interested to see jihadis and their families being expelled from Homs, in an orderly fashion.
I would be willing to bet that many of them are native born Syrian converts to Wahabbism, who will no longer be welcome in Syria. To me it portends a future of sectarian cleansing of Wahabbis after the war. Can’t argue against it from a security standpoint.

Who ordered this attack? I sure didn't.
I doubt SA will take them. Wonder where they will wind up?
I don’t want them as neighbors either.

Some will go to Idlib to keep fighting, others were on their way to Jarabulus - off to Erdoganstan.
Last time I was on one, it was a Chinook. I never quite got used to seeing the foam on the oil in the rear transfer case.
Or the open space when you look out back of the cargo bay.
Nor with the vibration.
