It’d be real fun if one of our ships testing out one of our new lasers just happened to be in range...

I don't normally place a computer virus into an alien vehicle,
But when I do; little fat boys pee their pants!

Rumor has it that a invisible heat ray from outer space
was directed at the missile causing all of
the made in china parts to melt.

Small heli-drone, carrying a two part, fast-setting epoxy to inject into control surface hinges...

Cyanoacrylate (
"SuperGlue") spray would be far simpler in both targeting and application... (H/T Dale Brown...)
Both would work -- but would hardly cause catastrophic (explosive) failure five seconds after liftoff...
But -- there are .50BMG "anti-materiel" rounds that would do exactly that job... (explosive failure). And, the rocket noise would definitely mask the sound of the shot...
But -- in your scenario and mine -- it would take some near-superhuman SF operators to pull it off -- and survive...
