If you're in a state where the age of consent is 18, present evidence to pursue a criminal case. In Texas, it's 17.
These teacher sex laws are a steaming pile. Keep in mind it would be a crime if the student was 19 or even 20 under statute.
Yes, it did. My little HS had a hot blonde female teacher who serviced the football team, a male coach was messing with an elementary girl and even the priest had a teen girl up under his robes.
I understand why she was arrested...

Well, it would be more correct to ask how I would feel if it was 17-year old SON and his 28-year old FEMALE teacher .. after all, that more accurately reflect the situation at hand.
And, at the risk of being accused of being sexist, I can't say that I would be too awfully upset about it ... other than wondering where teachers like this were 50 years ago ...

The teacher laws reflect what happens as adults in the form of sexual harassment.
My larger point was that female offenders are treated differently than men, both in the courts and society. In an age of hyper political correctness and “gender equality,” as well as civilized society, should the law apply evenly to all?
Finally, anytime a direct superior is fraternizing with a subordinate, it is inappropriate by its nature.
When I was 15 I used to bother the girls. I even bothered two of the teachers. Of course, they didn’t have sex-ed and I didn’t learn it from my parents. So, because of that, nothing happened. I just didn’t know what to do with ‘it’. I never learned what to do with ‘it’ until college.
But had I knew what to do with ‘it’...
Although I live in Mexico where the age of consent is 12, we have a moral obligation before God to do right by our kids (and other people’s kids.)

Teachers are in a position of authority. Were she not a teacher (to whom we send our kids) there would have been no issue... other than the adultery (one of the Big 10) that she dragged him into. (I have seduced and been seduced.)
Sin seems to be fun, laughs, giggles and smiles until you are held accountable. And we all will be one day.
PS The crazy ones are the best in bed. What kind of unfair BS is that?
It's only recently that Age of Consent laws were applied to women seducers, they were actually written to protect girls from men.
Should she be jailed? Nope.
Thinking back to when I was 17.... I doubt that the kid needed a whole lot of coercion. My Rule of Thumb was if the girl had bathed sometime in the previous year and didn't have a beard like a Confederate General, I was OK with her.

Makes sense, to me. Fire the teacher, she can't make good decisions. But jail time? What's the point?

I’ve made the point before that when my dad was this kid’s age he was a tail gunner in a B-29 over North Korea.
Anyone old enough to do that is old enough for this.
Yup, Texas has passed a law saying it's illegal for a teacher to have sexual contact with a student no matter the age leading to ridiculous cases.
