Like all on the Left, liberal Christian denominations invoke Christian universalism very selectively and hypocritically. When dealing with ethnic or racial identity among whites, they say that "we're all brothers who worship the same God" and claim that any form of ethno-nationalism among whites goes against Christian teaching.

In contrast, the same self-righteous universalism and talk of brotherhood among liberal Christians is never brought up when blacks or other non-whites assert their racial identities.
