My first employer out here in CA did that exact thing when they started going down. I figured cutting 95% of the 30 or so “vice presidents” we had would have been a better way to go.
As I read it in an earlier discussion, senior management scoffed at the idea of selling goods over the Internet back in the 90’s. Like they would have had a 6 or 7 year head start on Amazon if they listened to their young Turks...
