Good catch!
Thing is, though, it can’t be all that much harder to rig a timed detonator...
Aneroid detonator. This is not rocket science. Ban muzzies.
Even clock-boy can do it.
SS1
Take a litbium ion battery and stab it with a screwdriver. Stand back and do it outside.
Or just look ok youtube. Get 10 Jihadis on a flight, stack the batteries on top of eachother and you have something resembling a thermite grenade.
I’m wondering if they do not already scan for detonators. Don’t they have some small amount of chemical explosives? Can this be screened for?
In any case, laptops need batteries, so they are (up to this point) fairly ubiquitous and innocuous. It’s real easy to remove and even aggregate several laptop batteries but not tablet batteries. They’re very difficult to remove. I don’t see how tablets are an issue.
I take some long flights several times a year. I have a whole bunch of movies I can watch on my tablet, which helps make the otherwise overcrowded and uncomfortable flight survivable. And sometimes I fly to give a presentation at various conferences and I’ll work on my slides/presentation on the laptop when flying in.
Losing all of that would definitely suck.
