Nobody can live on Midway. You have to have a permit to go there. There are a few biologist studying bird life there but that’s it. The same is true of Wake Island and Iwo Jima. I think they keep the long runways on those island available for emergency landings of commercial aircraft but I don’t know if they even do that anymore.

The best way to get to Guam is to take flight to Hong Kong, Manila or Japan. There are discount airlines that have almost daily flights from there to here and they are really cheap. (Hong Kong Express and ANA for example.) There is a commuter flight from here to Saipan and Tinian from here as well as other islands. There is a daily barge that goes from Guam to Saipan but I don’t know if it takes passengers or just cargo. It is really slow, an 11 hour trip. I would bet that a sport fishing boat could be chartered to go there.

I’ve been to Saipan, Tinian, Kwajalein, Chuuk (Truk) and Tarawa where there were major battles in WW2 as well as Hong Kong and Singapore. Saipan has a lot more history in that regard than Guam despite Guam being the larger invasion.

Fascinating. As a naval history buff, I’d like to visit some of those places sometime, but... Not so sure it would be worth the hassle.
