Iffy stuff, there. It might be possible to instruct baggage packers to keep laptops and such toward the middle of the cargo hold, but having watched that group numerous times, I would not stake MY life on ‘em.
As ISIS & AQ get more sophisticated, it’s not hard to visualize all battery powered electronics larger than a cell phone being banned from all commercial flights. A lot of people would be VERY unhappy. The “hit” on business people would be tremendous.

I can imagine being able to link several mobile telephones together as well. It doesn’t take a whole lot to blow a hole in the window of an air liner.
