CW's 'Supergirl' Equates 'Make America Great Again' Phrase to Slavery

Even when it comes to alien politics, CW’s Supergirl can’t help but insert its liberal thoughts into everything. This time, in an episode focusing on another planet on an entirely different galaxy, the writers felt the need to add a “Make America Great Again” dig. And it's just as forced as you’d think.

In the March 20th episode “Star-Crossed,” Mon-El (Chris Wood) is reunited with his parents Rhea and Lar-Gand (Teri Hatcher and Kevin Sorbo) who have come to Earth to return him to their home planet of Daxam. Since they are the rulers of the once-destroyed planet, they hope to have their son help them “Make Daxam Great Again.” The rest of the conversation sounds even more familiar as Kara/Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) challenges them on the planet's practice of slavery.

Lar-Gand: Where's that appetite of yours? Aren't you happy to see us?

Mon-El: Of course, of course I am.

Rhea: Or have you been distracted by Kryptonians in capes since you fled Daxam?

Mon-El: How did you find me?

Lar-Gand: We heard your beacon. The transmission was incomplete, it brought us to this galaxy. Then it was just a matter of gathering the bread crumbs.

Rhea: We had our greatest success at Slavers' Moon. We heard from one of our Dominator ambassadors that you've been freeing slaves.

Lar-Gand: Yes, imagine our surprise at your heroics.

Rhea: Your influence, I'm sure.

Kara: We freed them from being treated like animals. They weren't goods to be traded.

Rhea: There's that famous Kryptonian exaggeration.

Lar-Gand: Mon-el, you remember how well your servants were treated at the palace. Just like family.

Kara: Because you stole them from their families.

Rhea: We liberated them from greater hardship. We gave them a path.

Mon-El: How did you escape the blasts? I thought you were dead.

Lar-Gand: When Krypton exploded, the Kryptonite rained down, killing everything. We had to get off planet to persevere.

Rhea: And to find you. So that we might return, now that the atmosphere is hospitable. To make Daxam great again.

Mon-El: Daxam was never great.

Rhea: Has the Kryptonian rubbed off on you so much so that you have forgotten? I know you're fond of a pretty face, but be reasonable.

Kara: Well, I think what he might find novel about me is integrity.

It's just like how liberals keep reminding us America "was never great" because of past sins like slavery (though that severely limits the list of countries that were ever great). Rhea and Lar-Gand sure sound a lot like 19th century Southern plantation owners in their defense of slavery. Apparently those on the left think "Make America Great Again" means bringing back slavery and segregation.

Thank goodness we have such enlightened people like Kara/Supergirl to remind us rubes that slavery was bad, and thank goodness we have shows like Supergirl to remind us how we can never ever bring it back. So don’t even think about making Daxam - or America - "great" again!

Further proof of the fact that actors were dealt with quite severely when it came out to the “brain” issue.

Kevin Sorbo is one of the very few Christian Conservatives in Hollyweird.

Working for billion dollar globalists at third world professional rates is more akin to slavery.

I like super hero shows, but the list of shows I have stopped watching over garbage like this is growing... super girl already made that list. A shame, all they had to do was put out even a mediocre show and steer clear of leftist SJW politics and I’d have kept watching. They would rather go under than pass up a chance to diss conservatives.

i.e. America was great, only, when it had slavery.

America was not great after 1865. Defeating Germany, twice, was not great, the second time it was defeating the dominate political governing philosophy in America at the time and after. Defeating Communism was not great.

I thought I’d give the program a go. It took a while, but they started turning the thing into group session for women with issues.

Her mom was this. Her female friend was that. Issue, after issue...

The angst was so thick you could slice it, toss it in the microwave and feed it to a Leftist.

It almost seemed like there was a lesbo undertone to it at one point. I tuned out.

No thanks.

This ia a bit of a stretch... Supergirl deserves criticized for its perversion of classic characters and trying to be a propaganda piece for homosexual normalization.... but I don’t read this as some attack on MAGA.... Trying to equate a fictional world that has been portrayed as less than moral in every mention of it in the series, and claiming it a metaphor for America is seeing what you want to see.

No watching of this show would give you the impression that Daxom or whatever is America....

The show is for the most part, light weight family fair, with the notable exception this season of pushing lesbianism for no reason other than propaganda attempts at normalization, but fortunately the 30 second skip feature gets you past this garbage, because none of it is relevant in any way to the main story line... and a joke in the first episode that was too adult and had no reason to be there about lesbians.

Properly edited, around the gay propaganda, the show is fairly 2 dimensional light entertainment. Thank goodness for the 30 second skip feature though, otherwise I would have to stop watching it with my daughter.... because pure of the lesbian nonsense.

Disappointing and pointless.... but not surprising... the continued attempts to “normalize” this and other mental illnesses is disgusting, the APA should be ashamed of itself for removing it from the DSM based on zero evidence.... Its a mental disorder, and always will be.

No loss though, it’s turned pretty bad lately...like Gotham did when they made the Penguin ghey and in love with the Riddler.

Ain’t nobody got time fo dat.

We didnt defeat communism.

Look,at the goals of the communists for america, and look how many socialist goals have been achieved. We have one entire major political party that is socialist, and part of the other major party that is, plus several other smaller socialist parties, green, new, actual communist party, etc, here.

I’ve been a Superman fan since I first learned to read (circa 1951). I’ve sent all the iterations of Superman, Superboy, Supergirl, Krypto, etc.

This new Supergirl is, by far, the worst of the genre. After watching episode one, and finding out that Jimmy Olson is suddenly black, and Supergirl has a thing for him, I shut it down.

The CW is an American broadcast television network that is operated by The CW Network, LLC, a limited liability joint venture[1] between CBS Corporation, the former owners of the United Paramount Network (UPN), and the Warner Bros. Entertainment division of Time Warner, former majority owner of The WB Television Network. The “CW” name is an abbreviation derived from the first letters of the names of its two parent corporations (CBS and Warner Bros.). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_CW

“ike Gotham did when they made the Penguin ghey and in love with the Riddler.”

I actually didn’t mind that, given the Penguin is borderline insane, self-destructive, and vain, with severe mother issues.

Typical queer, in other words.
