In the last 30 years, the amount of federal timber available for sale in most of Americas national forests has been reduced between 70 and 99 percent. A University of Idaho study suggests that forest and wood product production jobs in this state have diminished from nearly 20,000 in 1991 to 12,479 in 2016. An unreliable and constricted supply of logs has been the largest factor forcing mill closures in Idaho towns like Kamiah, Orofino, Coeur dAlene and Elk City. Over that quarter of a century, some 7,500 Idaho forest-dependent families have lost the employment, homes and lifestyle they once lived and loved.

Just as automobile manufacturing used to provide decent jobs for kids with no college in the Rust Belt, wood products used to provide decent jobs for kids with no college in the Northwest.
Now, one Democrat Senator’s kid has a job counting Spotted Owls.
Wow! What a concept! Salvage the remaining dead but usable timber after a catastrophic forest fire. Here’s another idea: harvest selected timber BEFORE there’s a catastrophic forest fire.
The only thing the USFS got good at was putting steel and concrete gates on the entrances to 1000’s of USFS roads throughout the Northwest. Blocked off millions of acres from use by the taxpayers who paid their wages. 50% of the USFS employees were worthless and lazy slugs.
The stupid liberals would rather see a forest fire pollute the earth that utilize the wood to build homes. Same with the underbrush. Rather have a fire that let sheep graze which in turn produces new grass for the wildlife.
They seem to excel at starting fires too.

What do they do when they run out of fingers & toes??? Not smart enough to count further, IMO.
