There is zero chance 2018s various medical costs will be lower than 2017, or 2016, or 2015.
About the only thing that can be done is obfuscate it with block grants and tax credits and maybe claim you slowed increase. But you can’t get prices down unless you cut doctor salaries and hospital management salaries.
No way conservatives will support govt dictating salaries for non govt employees.
$12,000 in annual premiums for coverage that had a $7,000 annual deductible. The guy had an ER visit in December and had to pay the entire cost out of his pocket.
Guess what -- he's decided to go uninsured in 2017 because he really doesn't give a f#&% about it anymore and figures he might as well have the $12,000 in his bank account if he has to pay for the first $7,000 in medical bills out of his pocket anyway. If the Republicans in the House and Senate can't fix that sh!t, I'm sure he wouldn't walk from his kitchen to his den to vote for a Republican in 2018.
Multiply that by several million voters in the same situation, and you can see a bloodbath on the horizon for the GOP in the 2018 midterms.
They have one chance to fix this.
And why do you expect the results in 2018 will be different than in 2010?
They won't see a reduction. Not as a result of this mess the GOP is pushing.

Why does that matter? We’ll have relief from the worst of Obamacare. Maybe for 8 yrs.
And be under Trumpcare. Why should we assume that will be a whole lot better?
If medical costs don’t drop, insurance costs can’t. They don’t operate at a loss. How could they reduce premiums if medical costs don’t drop?
And if you truly think the insurance company premiums are way overpriced, then buy stock in the insurance company and subsidize the premium that way.
Screw the repubs. They have had many years to put together an alternative. Lazy bums. Also, they lied when they said they would repeal nobamacare.
That's an easy answer:
Give customers the option of buying coverage that doesn't meet all of the Obamacare requirements.
This is America, isn't it? Give the customers -- and the insurers -- OPTIONS that can be tailored to meet individual needs.
1. A medical insurance policy would cost a lot less money if it has a lifetime limits on benefits -- even if it's as high as $5 million. Obamacare prohibited this. The GOP bill doesn't change it.
2. A medical insurance policy would cost a lot less money if it did not cover pre-existing conditions. Obamacare forced all insurers to cover every pre-existing condition, even if a customer wants to buy one without the pre-existing condition coverage. The GOP bill doesn't change this.
3. A medical insurance policy would cost a lot less money if it didn't have to cover all kinds of procedures and treatments mandated by the U.S. government. This is what Obamacare brought us. The GOP bill doesn't change this.
What Republican majority? The Republicans constitute a Democrat majority.
Because the Republicans in Congress stand for what Ryan stands for. They are all Tom Donohue’s men. Americans elected them to represent the Chamber of Commerce. That is what every congressional election is for, to elect the best candidate to represent the Chamber.
So they get primaried. So they lose their primaries and the winners get elected. So what? The new guys get to DC and if they know not already they learn within hours what the “real world” looks like. They learn that if they play the game they will be wealthy with a high income for life, even if they lose their next elections. They learn that if they do not play the game they will be primaried by an opponent with unlimited campaign funds and their income depends entirely on their salary and their own efforts. You can count the number of current congressmen who have been thusly compromised by counting up the votes for Mr. Ryan to be Speaker.
Yeah, right. And the sky is falling. Got any other scare tactics, Ryan Chicken Little s—t? Conservatives at the grass roots level, do NOT like this bill. Bring the bill forward you sent up in 2015, when you knew there wasn’t a snowball’s chance it would pass or Obama would vote for it. According to Rand Paul, that was a very good bill. It wasn’t full of special interest goodies. But, no. He’s not interested in doing that. He knows this one is a bad bill, and when the SHTF, it will get all over Trump. HE HATES TRUMP! I am not happy with Trump backing this piece of crap.
And please don’t start throwing stuff at me because I disagree with Trump on this one. He’s fallible, just like anyone. Somehow, Lyin Ryan has him believing him. He’s done nothing but stab Trump in the back, all along. He can’t be trusted, and I’m floored that Trump apparently does trust him.
In your post is the core of the reason I moved from Seattle, my home of 46 years, to a small hobby farm in south central KY. Well, it’s now 32 acres.
But yeah, I completely agree. And I’m relatively unaffected by all this stuff. I even cancelled all health insurance the day Obamacare went into effect. We love our life out here and are pretty much left alone by the FedGov...or the state and county governments for that matter. I don’t even need a building permit to build a house, though if I need a loan, the bank will probably require it. :-)
We love it out here. The freedom is almost tangible...
I would reserve judgment on Trump supporting this bill. It looks awfully bad but I learned to hold my fire with Trump. One doesn’t know what he is actually about. He doesn’t do things the same way Romney or Bush would do them.
