A few years back, we were enjoying 4th of July festivities at Lake Grapevine. After the fireworks, someone from a nearby group shouted "Viva Mexico!"
To the chagrin of my wife and a few inlaws, I shouted "Viva los Estados Unidos!" LOL, nothing but crickets after that. I think I took them by surprise.
Like you, I'm not a fan of boorish behavior. I lived in Germany for over four years, and loved the country. I never forgot that I was a visitor.
