Full Headline: Would YOU let a homeless person live in your backyard? Portland offers residents free tiny homes if they rent it to families who are on the street

....

Faced with an intractable homeless problem, officials in Portland are thinking inside the box.

A handful of homeless families will soon move into tiny, government-constructed modular units in the backyards of willing homeowners.

Just one step away from forcing you to put the homeless hut in your yard.

Call it a "tax" and SCOTUS will allow it.

This will prove to be the greatest case of Nimbyism in recorded history, and the hypocrisy of liberal do-gooderism will be on display for the whole world to see, though admittedly few will pay attention or make any connections.

My guess is that less than 20 property owners city wide will offer to house a vagrant on their home turf, and those that do will eventually regret it.

Sure. Those ones with access alleys in the back. That way you don’t have to look at them until they need to use your bathroom.

Count on the libtards to make homelessness and vagrancy permanent. Instead of raising standards, they reduce and dumb them down. As always, ass backward.

No, just get conservative government in control, let private businesses prosper, reduce the regulations and obstructions, provide jobs and then the homeless who want to can get homes.

Will they have toilets?

What will the homeless do all day? Will they ever come out of the tiny houses?

What of the mentally ill homeless, whose mental problems may flare up at any time? Will these liberal homeowners like it when they raise hell in their backyard, break windows and doors, go to the bathroom all over their backyard???

I missed this in first scan...

Housing officials are still ironing out many details, but they will buy the first four modular units with $365,000 in government money and a charitable donation.

That comes out to a cost of $91,000 per chicken coop. Wow! Follow the money on this scam.

This is horrible. Most homeless want to be outside and cr7p everywhere. The only ones this helps is the people who have the homeless committees.

How much will they make a year from this? 350k? Look at how much they make off of them in Los Angeles? 10 billion in 10 years and more they have way more homeless.

This is the plan....to have many more homeless. Make more homeless, control the masses.

"Will they have toilets?"

When you're homeless, the world is your toilet.

Of course. It’s a scam anyway. The only people that will be allowed the zoning exemption will be politically connected wealthy people with enough property to fit the “tiny” home. They get 70k of upgrades on their property and all they have to do is let a model homless person live there. It isn’t going to be the crazy drug addled nut but a single mom with her kid. Then after 5 years, they get kicked out and they rent it out for $1200 a month. And as cover the town planners and city council will be the first to show such compassion.

I honestly have a secret love for tiny homes, but not too tiny. However $75,000 is the price for a real house, and is another Democrat money laundering scam.

So weird to live behind enemy lines, but the article is very true about the exorbitant cost of housing. Monthly rents are higher than people’s monthly income. Something is really wrong.

If you can’t reject and you are assigned a homeless family, it would be a no go for me.

I might do it if it was someone who was referred through my church.
