Problem is I will ask if mayonnaise for example is in something. The cook says no. I eat it and react only to find out they used a similar product made with ALL soy not called mayonnaise but mayo
Same with butter. People just don’t get it.
Applebee’s soaks their 8oz steaks in soy to tenderize them.
The federal government allows 5% additive in hamburger and still call it 100% beef. It’s usually soy. Most often in premade patties.
My sister has celiacs and has to be very careful. Some restaurants say that certain items are gluten free, but that isn’t always the case. A couple of examples: they don’t use gluten free soy sauce, they don’t change their gloves or use a different surface or toaster when preparing sandwiches, they fry their French fries in the same baskets and oil that they fry breaded chicken, fish, etc., and gluten free baked goods sitting right next to regular ones. It’s somewhat difficult to eat out, but people are starting to understand what needs to be done. We were at a Subway about a month ago and the gal was really good - she changed her gloves and even went back to the kitchen and got turkey that hadn’t been sitting out next to the other items.
I had no idea soy was so pervasive.
I guess you have to do a lit of label reading at the store.
How long does a bout last after you’ve had soy?
