Darren Rainey spent two hours locked in a shower inmates at the Dade Correctional Institute said prison guards left set to scalding hot before dying of the injuries caused by the water. Rainey's skin was peeling off when he was removed from the shower. Inmates say he was screaming to be let out before he died, and that guards regularly used extremely hot and cold showers to punish mentally ill patients. Nearly five years later, in a report released Friday, the state's attorney has ruled that there was no criminal conduct by the guards.
In her ruling, Katherine Fernandez Rundle said, according to the Miami Herald, that John Fan Fan, a sergeant, and the officers involved in getting Rainey into the shower, Ronald Clarke, Cornelius Thompson, and Edwina Williams, didn't act with premeditation, malice, recklessness, ill-will, hatred or evil intent. The officers involved were eventually promoted after the incident.

The showers at the prisons where I worked were set at a comfortable temperature...couldn’t get hot, couldn’t get cold.
Other inmates could hear him screaming and apologizing, but the people who kept the water on the whole time just “accidentally” didn’t hear what everybody else could hear.
Right.
This is unconscionable.
Another idiot judge.
Hey, prison treatment in North Korea is sadistically brutal, everyone knows that.
What is that you say, this wasn’t Dade County, North Korea, but Dade County, Florida? Could’ve fooled me. Do they use AA guns on anyone stepping out of the lunch line as well?
Just for your clarification.
County jails all over the nation house fed inmates.
Here is one I know of.

Perhaps Katherine Fernandez Rundle is looking to replace James Comey?
“The New Black”?
Since when has any government employee been held accountable for any misdeed? Nothing to see here citizen, move along in case I get belligerent and beat the snot out of you just for fun.
“The people who promoted those who did this should have it done to them.
Without malicious intent, of course.”
If there really was any “justice”, these psychopath prison guards would NOT have been promoted, but sentenced to prison, in the general population, not some ‘special’ prison or even solitary confinement. The inmates would know what to do.
There is absolutely no reason for this.
Prosecute to the fullest extent.
I would also declare that all water systems be set to 120 max in the inmate shower system.
Your link points to a Shaun King article. Could it be that for the first time ever he wrote something even somewhat sensible? Mark your calendar!
LOL. Still dead.
It wasn’t a judge who made this decision, it was a prosecutor (the State Attorney).
So while they may house people being held for trial this person was not being held for trial.
remember this incident, the next time there is a discussion over the merits of water boarding......
I’m cooking a chicken breast for dinner tonight, using the sous vide method (circulating hot water bath). The water is 150°. The recipe said it will be done in 1 to 4 hours, depending on size, and how done we like it.
cough up the donuts :) Rainey was a black:

according to Wiki, there have been 8 other incidents of scalding. The death was reported by an inmate.
