The repulsive worldview of Trump and Bannon, perfectly captured in one poll [WashPost]
washingtonpost ^ | March 17, 2017 | Greg Sargent

A CNN poll out this morning tests one of the fundamental tenets of the Trump and Bannon worldview in a very illuminating way. It finds that large majorities reject the basic idea that undocumented immigrants who have been in this country for a long time — and have not committed serious crimes — should nonetheless be subject to removal.

It’s the latest sign of a larger trend as the narrative of President Trump and his top adviser, Stephen K. Bannon is getting translated into concrete policy.

And Americans are recoiling from the results.

The CNN poll finds that 58 percent of Americans worry that those efforts “will go too far and result in deportation of people who haven’t committed serious crimes.”

60 percent say the government should prioritize legalizing those working here illegally.

Trump has vastly expanded the pool of undocumented immigrants who are now targets, claiming longtime residents and low-level offenders are nothing more than lawbreakers who should be subject to enforcement.

But CNN finds the public broadly rejects this notion.

A Quinnipiac poll finds support for allowing undocumented immigrants to remain is at a new high of 63 percent. Meanwhile, sizable majorities disapprove of Trump’s planned border walls.

In the initial outcry over Trump’s travel ban, Bannon insisted that the “overwhelming majority of Americans” support his “populist nation-state policies,” meaning that a large majority is rooting for Trumpism to succeed. But this is just false.

Now the American electorate are digesting Trump’s budget, which would deeply cut into the State Department budget in ways that weaken America’s constructive international engagement.

It would slash away at the Environmental Protection Agency budget, weakening environmental protections and scrapping Obama policies to reduce carbon dioxide emissions essential to meeting our commitments as part of the Paris climate accord.

...large majorities reject the basic idea that undocumented immigrants who have been in this country for a long time — and have not committed serious crimes — should nonetheless be subject to removal.

Would they say the same thing if they went away on vacation for a month and returned home to find someone had set up camp in their home, but had generally kept it in good repair?

Would it be "Mi casa es su casa", or "Get the heck out before I call the police"?

Marvin didn’t write the article.

The Washington Post has dropped any pretense of reporting news.

Did the old Soviet Pravda send all its so-called journalists here to work for CNN and the Washington Post? I think we need a congressional investigation of these evident Russian ties.

Wait...

Latest Washington Post gem:

"Trump has picked a deeply disturbing hero"

Andrew Jackson.

That "deeply disturbs the Washington Post.

Here is what I have noticed though: Even though a group of people vote for something, there will always be a subgroup that will oppose what they voted for once it actually starts to happen.

In short, people are inconsistent and contradictory.

Polls only care for those who cannot make up their own minds.

I think any illegal who commits a crime should be jailed, then deported in that order. Anyone who returns should be jailed for a year, then deported again.
Third deportation should get a big D tattooed on their forhead, jailed then deported again.

Any illegal who has worked, paid taxes and not committed crimes beyond that should be deported, then allowed to apply for citizenship with a fast track based on how productive they have been, slowed by how much welfare they took to get there.

We need to vastly open up the application process for immigration and work visas, it should not take years but perhaps a couple of months to vet them.

The Democrats, who always liked second class citizens and slaves have shut down normal immigration to create a dependent class. I hate slavery, and I hate socialists.

Sargeant is an antiAmerican cuck and a shill for globalism, like all MSM journolists are. He’s saying what he’s being paid to say.

He’s a whore.

I know *exactly* where this sign is located. It's located in Derby Line,Vermont...a town I've visited several times. It's located right on the US/Canadian border (the Quebec border to be exact...that's why it's also in French).

I wonder what the maximum criminal penalty is for having disobeyed this sign (there are two Customs and Immigration stations with a quarter mile of this sign).

I'd love to see federal legislation passed that provides for a $5,000 fine and/or a year in prison for *each* day,or portion of a day,in which an alien is illegally present in the US.
