There will always be scumbags.
We don't know for certain that McCain caused the USS Forrestal fire.
He might be responsible for a lot of other stuff, but most reliable accounts say he didn't start the fire.
It’s a certainty that he didn’t.
The Left likes McCain and never misses a chance to play up his ‘hero’ story when there is no ‘hero’ story.
I can tell you have not done as thorough research as I have. I looked at government records on his citations and I reviewed them against DOD manuals and compared them to the citations of others in his service group and era.
His citations clearly lack any detail that is REQUIRED in describing citations for heroism whereas other citations follow the book in describing the specific acts of bravery and heroism that is required. He is the only one that sticks out as false. All others have clear descriptions and depictions of events that led to the awarding of citations for heroism.
His citations are phony. There’s not even a question.
Do the research as described above. If you do not see a clear case of phony citations, then you are like the left that plays up his hero status falsely.
When you do arrive at the only true conclusion that his citations are phony, then the next question is why has he allowed the leftist press to exalt his false ‘heroism’ for so long?

It was posted here no FR back in 2015 at the time Donald Trump was responding to McCain calling the 15,000+ Arizonans who turned out at a rally for Trump “crazies”.
McCain called these people “crazies” so Donald Trump said McCain was not the type of hero he respected. That set me off to research McCain’s ‘hero’ status and I essentially uncovered what many Freepers already knew about him. He’s a fraud.
If you want to see the research you have two options:
1. You can backtrack pages on FR at the time Trump responded to McCain, or
2. You can be quicker by downloading the military citations of McCain, military citations of other POWs, and the DOD Manual for citations and commendations. You can also find many other resources on the internet that are government based that are now available to everyone. You will find that McCain is a fraud.
Back in McCain’s ‘hero’ days, no one in power ever envisaged the information revolution, how voters would have access to so many government records. So many of the frauds of McCain’s era, including McCain got away with it until the internet revolution caught up with them. Now they can’t escape the truth.
I don’t believe he had any causal effect on Forrestal.
As for there will always be scumbags, not so much as we’ve seen in the past. See the last part of post #86 to see why.
Neither is a hero.
