Trump To Sign Law That Increases Drug Tests for Unemployed Seeking Benefits
Conservative Tribune ^ | March 18 2017 | Conservative Tribune

Welfare reform has been a high priority for Republicans and conservatives for many years, and now that President Donald Trump is in the White House, the possibility of such reform is finally feasible.

In what was quite possibly the opening salvo on welfare leeches, Trump was ready to sign a bill passed by Congress that would allow states to perform drug tests on those applying for unemployment benefits, WITI reported.

Under President Barack Obama, states weren’t allowed to test applicants for drugs unless they were applying for a job that already had mandatory drug testing. However, there’s a new sheriff in town — and he’s backed by a Republican-controlled Congress that, while far from perfect, is at least more likely to pass common-sense legislation like this than any legislative body under the control of people like former House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi.

“””””””In before the “...but I’ve been paying into that my entire life” folks.”””””””””””””””””

Just some ransom thoughts.

1. I have been an employer for many years. There is no employee deduction for unemployment. The EMPLOYER pays every dime. It may be different in some states but not in any in which I have operated.

2. I don’t know how you would do the testing. Unemployed people never go the a physical office anymore. It is all done online.

3.. I think anyone on welfare should be tested before they get any benefits. They should be subjected to random testing. They are getting free stuff that they never worked to achieve.

4. Social Security is different. You are entitled to that money because you earned it.

The States get most of the welfare money from the Feds who get it from the People - until we make huge changes over a time, it is only right that the Feds now stop blocking drug testing by the States before giving away our money.

So the Federal Governments only purpose is to hand out money with no oversight beyond collection of said money? What could possibly go wrong?

You might be referring to Social Security or Unemployment, which you do pay in to. This isn’t about that; it’s about welfare queens taking our tax dollars. They’ve never “paid in to” welfare.

In order to receive benefits, they need to (1) be drug tested, and (2) perform some kind of work for the community — maybe “do the jobs that Americans won’t do”.

Why do you think those jobs aren’t there? Could it possibly be the massive taxation to support freebies for those who refuse to be responsible?

Expand your business, or pay your taxes, your choice.

Trump can only create jobs by stopping deficit spending and wasteful Government oversight. Deporting criminals and not paying for drug addicts habits seem like a pretty good start to me.

I am watching my very own daughter edge closer to psychosis because she is a daily user for seven years. She almost had it beat and was normal. Of course observations of experiments only matter in science, so I’m sure it’s safe and natural. And cures childhood cancer. The fact that she went borderline psychotic right after she started using again is. Coincidental?

Nope. Social Security is an act of Congress, just like defense, education and unemployment. They can set any rules they please.

Wrong. When they started taking my money there were no restrictions in place.

There can be no restrictions once they start giving some back.

That’s great. Now let’s pass a law requiring Congress and ALL government employees being subjected to drug tests.

How come it is always ok to have random drug testing for the tax payers, but never the tax spenders?

I think most freedoms in America are about freedom to do wrong. These days there are always regulations and restrictions on doing anything constructive, but lots of laws protecting perversion, illegals and drug addicts.

Why do I have to take drug tests to work, but not to take others hard earned profits? How come people with jobs can’t get food stamps, but those who are able to work but don’t get them?

If the Government controlled health care system is so good, and America such a place of opportunity, why is there more disabled people on welfare than anywhere else?

Perhaps we indulge sin in the name of freedom a bit too much?

“In before the marijuana is “safe” because it is “natural” and has “no” side effects crowd.”

Still butt-hurt about the pot laws?

Start with legalizing drugs for retired folks over 65, ecstasy for those in old folks homes.

A liberal judge will block it, no doubt. Don’t know what grounds, but (s)he’ll try.

This has to be racist...or something.

Everybody knows that people on welfare are more stressed and do more drugs than working people. It's just not fair.

You're kidding. You should see the drugs I'm already, legally, on.

* Metformin
* Lovastatin
* Lisinopril
* Vitamin D3
* Baby aspirin

Be careful.

My primary caregiver had prescribe another BP medicine because of side effects. It gave me a constant dry cough.

The reality of these programs is that they do not work and are a huge waste of money, and are as often as not intended as kickbacks to a donor who owns a drug testing company.

Check out the Florida experience - $100 million spent on drug testing, almost zero saved on benefits not distributed as a result.

In the real world this is a huge waste of money and an unwise expansion of federal power.
