Standing at Brookhaven National Lab, U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer today revealed that the just-released White House budget decimates the ?nations national labs, including BNL, a world-renowned lab responsible for innovation, research and nearly 3,000 LI jobs. Schumer sounded the alarm and expressed serious concerns over a proposal to cut $900 million from the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Science, which funds national laboratories, like Brookhaven, and $2 billion from the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), the nuclear energy office, the energy reliability office, as well as the fossil energy research office.

Looks like a nice big building, that we paid for.
Pay for DemocRat votes
They suck up our hard earned money and pay themselves BIG BUCKS, so that they can donate large sums to Dems like Chuckles the clown Schumer.
$900 million from how much?
And spent on what? Maybe they just cut the amount spent on global warming research.
They do basic science - nuclear & particle physics.
The work is important.
Though due to wasting money on climate nonsense the lab is headed toward obsolescence.
Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), the energy reliability office.......TWO BULLSH#T offices with people who probably have family ties
ML/NJ
Chuckie’s screams are music to my ears!
The department of energy creates not one BTU of energy. It exists for its own existence.
This azz-hat is getting old in a hurry
Although originally conceived as a nuclear research facility, Brookhaven Lab's mission has greatly expanded. Its foci are now:
Nuclear and high-energy physics
Physics and chemistry of materials
Environmental and climate research
Nanomaterials
Energy research
Nonproliferation
Structural biology
Oh, and to decimate means to reduce by exactly ten percent...
I did an investigation of DOE spending last fall. It was clear that all the spending on carbon sequestration could be axed.
However, there is some seriously interesting work being done at the DOE to pull rare earth metals out of coal mine wastes. It would be a shame if that work was defunded.
Of course that work is not being done at brookhaven but rather in college labs in Pennsylvania, west virginia and alabama.
I would think thee are thousands of such offices where the name is just begging Trump to cut them from the budget.
The science labs should go to an expanded NSF.
The weapons labs should go to DOD.
My heart bleeds purple piss.....
Exactly. I like the sound of whiny Schemers any time of day.
Chuck U. Schemer.
"In January 1997, ground water samples taken by BNL staff revealed concentrations of tritium that were twice the allowable federal drinking water standardssome samples taken later were 32 times the standard. The tritium was found to be leaking from the laboratory's High Flux Beam Reactor's spent-fuel pool into the aquifer that provides drinking water for nearby Suffolk County residents."
"Since 1993, DOE has spent more than US$580 million on remediating soil and groundwater contamination at the lab site ..."
My daughter is a ‘soon-to-be-PhD chemist (and soon to be married!)’ working on that at WVU.
Put some ice on that Schmuck-y. Your side was beaten like a drum ...
