Naval Special Warfare head RADM Tim Szymanski recently told an industry conference that several women have tried to get into the pipeline but have not met physical standards...

Well, the hell with national security, just lower the standards so these (ahem) aspiring women warriors can get into the pipeline! (Don’t think I need this, but /s)

It is not just the physical capability. Special forces training is not designed with a "fixed bar" per se. And although there are minimum levels, the goal of the training it to take a trainee damn close to (if not all the way to) their physical and mental limits. Yes there are those who lack the physical capability. But it is just as common for a trainee to quit after reaching the limit defined by what they think they can do. And the less capable the body, the sooner one hits the pain threshold. Testing these limits is essential. Special forces members develop a level of common trust specifically because they know that each member will never ever quit, no matter what, until they are incapacitated or dead, period.

Consider the reality of the process. Many, many people "self select" out - they never try to become special forces. And testing is done by the military even before someone gets a shot at the training. So then, if someone is going through training, that individual is already very likely a bad ass. So it needs to be understood that the attrition rate is from that group, the soldiers who fail, are already at the far end of the bell curve, not people from the GP. The attrition rate for AF Para Rescue is 90%. 9 out of 10 fail.

Women are wired differently than men. That is why colleges must pour funding into something like 5 women's sports for every men's sport in order to attract women into competition. That way they meet title 9 funding requirements and men, who actually want physical competition, are able to participate.

When one considers how small a percentage of MEN are both willing and able to get into special forces it is no mystery why women can't make it. I am not saying it cannot be done. But it will be a very rare and unique woman who has the aggressiveness, attitude and physical toughness to make it through. And it will have to be for the right reasons. Shallow feminist ideals melt away pretty quickly after an hour or two lying in cold surf with a sandy taco at 0200.

Because it’s so politically incorrect you seldom ever hear it said, but apparently there is a widespread belief that the feminization of a country’s culture, and especially its government and its military, will inevitably cause its destruction.

Let’s hope they don’t lower the standards to allow chicks like the green berets did.

God knows that idiot Ray Mabus tried to water down the SEALs during his reign. Good for the SEALs for not bowing to the PC gods.
