US will 'not repeat' claims GCHQ wiretapped Donald Trump
BBC ^

The US has agreed not to repeat claims the UK's communications intelligence agency wiretapped Donald Trump in the weeks after he won the US election.

GCHQ denied allegations made by the White House that it spied on Mr Trump as president-elect.

No 10 has been assured the allegations would not be repeated, a spokesman for Prime Minister Theresa May said.

He said it had been made clear to US authorities the claims were "ridiculous and should have been ignored".

In times of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.

Yep, a nondenial denial and then an extracted promise that the US won’t rat on them over it.

“US has agreed not to repeat claims”

Spicer “repeated” claims voiced by a journalist/commentator, Judge Napolitano.

Like “Fight Club”, the first rule of secret US-UK intel sharing is “you don’t talk about secret US-UK intel sharing”.

Trump was given a choice of talking about it, or not having any in the future.

Whether info fell over the transom about what was requested and done, and by whom, or if the British IC is internally denying anything occurred, is something we are unlikely to learn, ever.

I think this- It happened, we know it happened, we have said it but we won’t talk about any more.

Titles are often deceptive:

But ex-Ministry of Defence intelligence office Crispin Black said that "we just don't know" if the US authorities are correct about British involvement.

"Sometimes intelligence agencies - it may well not be the case this time - do operate outside the law and outside the bounds of common sense," he said.

Hopefully, President Trump's discussions of these spy topics are taking place within the confines of the cone-of-silence.

You’re not suppose to throw your partner under the bus after you’ve both done some dirty laundry together in each other’s backyard.

There’s a third party cutout involved here. IMHO, it’s Israel.

IMO, find who leaked the Flynn stuff, back track the disclosure and that will lead directly to whom was the eavesdropper.

IMO also, it is not far fetched there were two distinctive attempts to monitor Trump, one domestic through FISA and one through foreign collection be it through FISA or monitoring foreign agents.

Obviously, if there was NO WARRANT under criminal eavsdropping procedures, then someone did something illegal.

If there was monitoring under foreign collection, whether domestically done or done by some foreign group, when they disclosed the Flynn stuff without redaction, it was illegal to do so.

If they keep pulling on the string, some monkey is going to drop out, they just need want to do it.

“If the claim can’t be substantiated, or it’s not desirable to talk about it in public”

It’s obvious that instead of watching the press conference you only got the fake news version from a hard left source.

The point that Spicer was making was exactly that none of the stories could be substantiated. Be it about Russians or wiretapping.

“Not fake news. This was the way to get around the FISA warrants. Have the UK do it, but in a “casting a wide net” type way, and oops- Trump and crew were recorded. President Trump is getting more and more people to fall into the the trap. Do you really think he’s that stupid to say this stuff without any evidence??”

I didn’t in any way mean the wiretapping claim was fake news, I meant the news report that says: “The US has agreed not to repeat claims the UK’s communications intelligence agency wiretapped Donald Trump in the weeks after he won the US election.”

Read this, from The Independent:

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/donald-trump-dossier-mi6-christopher-steele-russia-documents-alex-younger-a7528681.html

Link only due to copyright restrictions.

In a nutshell: Christopher Steele’s “dossier,” created for and purchased by the Jeb Bush and Hillary Clinton campaigns, was also given to MI6 and shared with various UK intelligence agencies including GCHQ. GCHQ in turn gave an assessment to US agencies including the NSA.

This was published before the inauguration.

You may not have thought this through.

The president has made starements of belief.

The folks who did it know they did it.

Since Trump knows who did it he will be watching and surveiling them.

They know that he knows so the are in a box.

The only party who doesnt know.....is you.

Trump is playing chess and they and you are playing checkers.

“Are they telling us the front page NY Times report on Inauguration day (Jan 20, 2017) was FAKE NEWS?”

IMHO this is what President Trump’s claim is all about. The media with the nyt the prime example were saying that they had information about Trump being “wiretapped” to get information of Trump’s ties to Russia.

I think Trump brought it up as part of his campaign to show that the media is full of fake news. I do believe this is the information that he received. In other words he is punking the media.

“The peculiar mixture of diplomatese with lawyerly vehement non-denial says that there is definitely a there there.”

Exactly. If the allegation wasn’t true they would have laughed and ignored it.

Bottom line is that this is not going away. I won’t be surprised if Trump himself repeats the allegation. This BBC story mentions “US authorities” who as far as we know could be John McCain.

The British trying to tell Trump what he can and cannot say wont fly well. Bad move.

GCHQ and the NSA have been spying on each other's citizens for decades. We've known this since publication of The Puzzle Palace, if not before. GCHQ isn't supposed to spy on Brits, and the NSA isn't supposed to spy on Americans. They get around this by having GCHQ share its spying on Americans and the NSA shares its spying on Britain. The law doesn't mean much to these folks. They can always work around it.
