Venezuela has a bread shortage. The government has decided bakers are the problem.

Facing a bread shortage that is spawning massive lines and souring the national mood, the Venezuelan government is responding this week by detaining bakers and seizing establishments.

In a press release, the National Superintendent for the Defense of Socioeconomic Rights said it had charged four people and temporarily seized two bakeries as the socialist administration accused bakers of being part of a broad “economic war” aimed at destabilizing the country.

In a statement, the government said the bakers had been selling underweight bread and were using price-regulated flour to illegally make specialty items, like sweet rolls and croissants.

The government said bakeries are only allowed to produce French bread and white loaves, or pan canilla, with government-imported flour. However, in a tweet on Thursday, price control czar William Contreras said only 90 percent of baked goods had to be price-controlled products.

There are a lot of hungry people in Venezuela and it takes a well-fed army to fight them. Problem solved.

Only a government that prizes ideology over common sense would sit on the world's largest oil reserves while simultaneously inflicting a food crisis on the country.

And they still can't see their way out.

There may be a shortage of bread in Venezuela, but their socialist leaders have lots of dough.

Socialism is just thievery on a grand scale.

Socialism. The only way you can take a country rich in oil deposits; and turn it into a nation with bread lines. And toilet paper lines!
Do you hear that America? Reject socialism.

Really? I don't know what to tell you other than the fact that history is littered with populations that remain in slavery for generations.

You could ask the same question about the people of North Korea or Iran or Cuba or Syria or Yemen or dozens of other countries.

Hold on to your 2nd amendment, my FRiend, it might be the only thing that guarantees your freedom, such as it is.

If you like your loaf bread, you can keep your loaf bread.

Both parents arrived to pick the school friend up. Turns out they are both doctors from Venezuela. The Woman came first and learned German in six months and then the father and daughter arrived. That was last year and now they all speck German very well.

These are the immigrants which will improve Germany.

Then there are the other kinds. The problem is that too many Germans refuse to acknowledge that there are different kinds of refugees, some desirable, some undesirable, and some disastrous.

The desirable ones are "citizen" types: they have middle-class culture, have a good work ethic, and will strive to become contributing members of society.

The undesirable ones are the "underclass" types: they are uninterested in work, uninterested in becoming productive, and mainly interested in what they can get from the Welfare State.

The disastrous ones are the "barbarian" types: they are there to take over and seize the wealth of the country, after there are enough of them. The problem with the Muslim refugees is that two many of them are the "bad" types.

Blame the bakers — exactly what the communist govt of Chile did. Short time later, it was overthrown.

To the leftists, everyone is the problem. Bakers are the problem. Farmers are the problem. Factory workers are the problem. Truck drivers are the problem. Doctors are the problem. Scientists are the problem. Store clerks are the problem. Young people are the problem. Old people are the problem. This ethnic group or that ethnic group is the problem. “Zionists” are the problem (even in countries that have few or no Jews). Christians are the problem. Socialism is never the problem.

I guess French bread means they can’t bake American Bread that has the moisture content raised to the maximum levels to increase the weight of a loaf.

This couple from Venezuela is educated and skilled and, obviously, literate. They are willing to contribute to and be a part of German society. They have constructive skills rather than destructive skills like how to smuggle drugs or build bombs. They came to Germany legally. They learned German - they did not demand that Germany adjust to them and everyone speak only in Spanish when dealing with them. A year ago, they were not the armed executioners for a dictator or for some terrorist group or for some narco gang. They do not profess hatred for their new country. They do not hate Christians and Jews. They do not want to ban books. They did not demand that a part of Berlin be made into a Venezuelans-only enclave, where Germans are not allowed and anyone stepping into their no-go zone is shot by snipers or beheaded by knife-weilding lunatics. Not all immigrants are the same.

Reading the headline I assumed this was a parody of our 'health care' debate...
