She is venerated around the world. She has outlasted 12 US presidents. She stands for stability and order. But her kingdom is in turmoil, and her subjects are in denial that her reign will ever end. Thats why the palace has a plan.
In the plans that exist for the death of the Queen and there are many versions, held by Buckingham Palace, the government and the BBC most envisage that she will die after a short illness. Her family and doctors will be there. When the Queen Mother passed away on the afternoon of Easter Saturday, in 2002, at the Royal Lodge in Windsor, she had time to telephone friends to say goodbye, and to give away some of her horses. In these last hours, the Queens senior doctor, a gastroenterologist named Professor Huw Thomas, will be in charge. He will look after his patient, control access to her room and consider what information should be made public. The bond between sovereign and subjects is a strange and mostly unknowable thing. A nations life becomes a persons, and then the string must break.

“Now in her last days she gets to watch the Islamic hordes overrun her once great country. “
And know that her great grandchildren will grow up in the Caliphate.
I'd be more worried about a civil war between William and Harry - Harry's favourite TV show is Game of Thrones.
All kidding aside, there's no real prospect of that type of schism. While it is possible that if the Queen's reign lasts another decade or so (and given her mother's longevity and her current apparently excellent health for her age, that can't be discounted), meaning the Prince of Wales would be in his eighties, that he might immediately abdicate his claim to William, there would be no question of William trying to seize the throne. He has been raised to his constitutional duty and the idea would be high treason (and they do still take that seriously). Besides which, there are legal avenues such as a Regency if he genuinely felt he needed to take over for the good of the Kingdom (ie, if his father was not competent due to age) - he'd have no reason to resort to some sort of force.
I always assumed that Robert Byrd would be simply be stuffed and re-elected to the Senate after his death. And would still manage to dominate appropriation bills.

This article may be part of the plan. They say she’s in good health, but she was sick over Christmas. So was Prince Phillip. He’s older than her. I don’t think Charles will be a bad King, but I know less what sort of king William would be.
yes. my parents were also born in that era. A sad loss indeed.
Thanks so much for the recommendation and nice summary. I will definitely watch it now! Also in regards to your previous links in the above post. What a great post on a variety of levels. :)

Is HRH the Prince of Wales considering entering the Orthodox Church?
Has Prince Charles found his true spiritual home on a Greek rock?
What is described in these two articles seems quite consistent to me of what I have observed of His Royal Highness.
I do not believe the Prince has converted to Orthodoxy or will do so because of the controversies that would create. But I do think that is where he is drawn and if he was a private citizen, his choices might be different from those he must make as the next King of the United Kingdom.
If that is the case, he really needs to give an address to the nation, formally repenting and apologizing for his public infidelity and accepting responsibility for his part in it, without laying further blame on the 19-year-old girl he married at age 32, baited, switched and betrayed. Otherwise, his ascension to the throne and most certainly Camillla's as "queen" (I can't even bear to capitalize it) will not be accepted at all, and may end the monarchy.
He also needs to stop having his PR people seed the tabloids with pity-party stories of his victimhood in his ill-taken marriage vows, such as this awful DM article below. If you have the stomach to delve into the comments by hitting the "View All" button, many if not most of the criticisms of him are deeply outraged, still:
That said, my umbrage is not directed at you, naturalman.
