the only reason I can think of to explain why they took such risks was they were certain they’d never be caught. But if they were so sure Hillary would win, why do these things? I guess the answer is “insurance”.

I think they didn’t just want to win; they wanted to destroy. It was the dems in Kali mode. This was a unique opportunity to destroy the totem of white, capitalist, un-PC middle America and they couldn’t resist. The fact that they had the election in the bag tempted them to take unusual risks. It wasn’t just Trump they wanted to destroy but the Republican party. And in the most delicious way — by proving its presidential candidate was essentially a traitor. The left has seethed at being seen by middle America as treasonous commies for the last 70 years (mainly because it’s true). This would have been the big get even. Obama especially wanted it for his legacy.

They knew Hillary was losing. They had access to undoctored internal polls. They knew she was losing, but the entire Obama administration needed Hillary to continue all their Executive edicts. So yeah, they tried everything in their power short of assasination. To think otherwise would be folly.
