Personally, I think is a CIA op aimed at draining intelligence from Congress and utilizing already compromised critters. This isn’t stupidity, it’s malice.

I think so. And since AG Sessions can re-assign McCabe without having to fire him or prove anything, I look for something like that as a tripwire to indicate that Sessions is on the right track. Unless there are good reasons for not doing that that I’m unaware of...
The firing of Preet Bharara was a major step, even though it was lost in the fake news of being a routine part of a new administraton. The question few people asked was “why is he so unwilling to leave his job?”. The answer is, he was being “rewarded” very well for slow-walking the investigations in to Clinton Foundation, Huma, and Hillary - all of which were in his Southern District of NY. So that was another tripwire, now we’ll see who takes his place and what happens with those cases now.
The FBI and NPYD can investigate all they want but the the US attorney won’t take the case forward, it does no good.
