(WASHINGTON) -- Nine high-ranking U.S. Navy officers, including one former admiral, have been charged with trading classified information in exchange for travel, dinner and prostitution services from a foreign defense contractor -- the latest charges in the widening probe, according to the Justice Department.

According to the Justice Department, the Navy officials allegedly took in expensive travel and entertainment expenses as well as prostitution services while steering contracts toward the company, Glenn Defense Marine Asia (GDMA), and blocking its competitors.

They allegedly used fake names and foreign email address to keep their actions secret.

A bunch have been arrested and charged previously. Today’s arrests added to the total, but I believe that some of the 25 were arrested before today. That is how they had the “opportunity” for plea deals that helped the ongoing investigations.

Any friends of John McCain in this mess, McCain is fueled by his connections with defense contractors in this country and defense contractors in other countries as I see it.

Defense companies are doing business across borders in the our ‘global economy’.

Put them on a ship at sea and hold a Captains Court.....

I think you meant Captain’s Mast, which is a forum for low level offenses, but I get your point.

May I suggest that keelhauling might be a preferable punishment. ;)

It’s not bad, it’s GOOD! Osama was probably blocking these prosecutions and now it’s full steam ahead. This is good swamp draining - 25 less pensions to pay and get these jailbirds singing.

>> I doubt even arraignments on 10% have been conducted at this point! <<

These people are subject to the UCMJ, most of their Constitutional rights are superseded. Military justice is swift.

This is not the first batch of arrests and charges, it started a while ago, I believe. Investigators nail some of the more accessible targets and flip them against the bigger fish.

Solution: More restrictive rules and endless training for lower ranking military and DoD civilians.

Yup, I’m surprised that Obama didn’t have the military unionize.

lack of discipline, morals and ethics across the military... this is the result of eight years of leftist control of the military

The corruption in the military and in America is due to the lack of discipline, morals, and ethics across the Baby Boom generation.

Obama and his 8 years are a symptom, not a cause. Obama was freely elected, twice.

A results of 8 years of obammy styled leadership and what was left as “leadership” in the services. I am so damned glad I retired just after Klinton came into office back in 1992. I only had to serve under that slime for two months and I retired. Thank God, and Greyhound I was gone!!!!

His dad was an Admiral. It’s nearly statistically impossible for McCain *not* to be dirty in this.

Speaking as a Baby Boomer former Marine, my discipline, morals and ethics are just fine. And many of my brother Baby Boomer Marines names are on The Wall.

military should have no pensions...none....we can not afford to have people who obviously have no love for their country to act so treasonous, all the while counting down the 20...

lets make military service once again, a "service" to our country...

these people who did this are just arrogant beyond belief...

I don’t believe walking the plank has ever been rescinded....

It is still quite legal among the United States Coast Guard to carry out executions at sea by means of hanging from the yardarm.

Just because it hasn't been done in a very long time does not mean it's off the books.
