As CEO at Exxon Tillerson would have traveled all over the world in large bizjets, he is quite comfortable doing that. He is likely flying in a large Gulfstream sized aircraft, not small but nothing like a 757.

Smaller footprint, more airports, easier ground handling.

Best side benefit, no room for all of those friendly objective reporters.

I seriously doubt that news companies pay for their trips on Government planes. They think the First Amendment covers them. And in the past, they have been treated like VIP’s. For Obama and Clinton it was always handy to have the cheerleaders around, for Bush it was trying to make them like him.
