Ummm perhaps not in MI. The auto industry has it's own media, 30 second spots on local news channels, a bazillion analyst and websites that pontificate on it's health, not to mention the now Nationally Syndicated "AutoLine Detroit" with John McElroy as host on PBS . This industry effects everyone greatly, and those in that industry are keenly aware of it, especially the engineers, of which we have the highest concentration of in the US if not the planet. These are sharp individuals, and if Beyonce' came here and wanted to spend her millions on launching her own line of electric and or sports cars maybe. IMHO her and anyone else that is from Hollyweird? Forgetaboutit. But when a Hollywood type shows up at a car show, like Jay Leno or Tim Allen? Now that is something to get excited about because they are car guys....

We are big fans of the tv show “Detroit Steel” which is now on the history channel. A growing business of making steel car wheels which they ship all over the world. And the focus on the show on their classic Detroit classic car restorations. They use local vendors and parts shops and are a cash only business. A great bunch of talented guys and there is no swearing!Their brand stamp that they put on their cars is “mobsteel”and they focus on Detroit history and doing what they can to bring the city back.

I’m talking about the local news stations and how they seem to fall all over themselves whenever something or “somebody” Hollywood is coming to town. To me, they look like suck-ups when it is Hollywood that should be doing the sucking up. You would think that Detroit and its surrounding communities are all so lonely and isolated from the rest of the world that when Hollywood comes calling, we should jump at the chance to roll out the Red Carpet for them as our would-be rescuers from mediocrity. Who needs ‘em?...I sure as hell don’t.
