President Donald Trump should be applauded for courageously tackling the "disaster" - as he calls Obamacare - in his first major legislative effort.
The House Republican healthcare plan has come under fierce criticism from almost every quarter, with some justification.
Now, our new president could inherit the bad political baggage of both Obamacare and the House Republicans.
Unfortunately, such a scenario is unfolding before our very eyes.
Remember that Obama and Trump agreed on the basic, positive premise that every American should have access to medical care.
But both Obamacare and the new GOP plan (let's call it Ryan Plan II), have a serious flaw: an onerous demand that almost every American should buy health insurance from the private market.
This demand, done mainly to please the insurance industry, has made the cure of simply expanding the less expensive Medicaid program a non-starter.
As a conservative, I have a real problem with the so-called "private health market."
Healthcare is regulated by states, and many states have allowed private insurance companies to operate like a racket.
In many states there is no free, competitive market for health insurance since they limit the number of operators, creating near monopolies.

Ruddy is not to be trusted. He is a Clinton pal.
Let's call it what it is: SOCIALIST MEDICINE.
This guy is “afraid” of the private market. Go to Canada, please, with your fellow snowflakes.
Bipartisan plan with Chuck Shuemer and Dick Durbin?
Riiiight.
Bi-partisan means the majority caved and let the minority have what it wanted.
FUCR. I remember all your email correspondence with Podesta during the campaign. You’re nothing but a money grubbing, 2 faced snake in the grass.
Unfortunately, the Democrats are so vested in the Obamacare model, that anything constructed with their input will end up being even MORE of a government-directed plan than the “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010” (which ends up protecting no patients and never coming CLOSE to “affordable”).
One can certainly spot a D.C. elitist. Ruddy, and his ilk, is what we voted against.

Spot on!
Trump needs to ditch the ‘bipartisan’ RINORyanCare plan and faction. The Freedom Caucus supporters are also the Trump voters.
I would go exactly the opposite: Look AGAINST any so-called “Bipartisan” plan ... The democrats will NOT compromise. Only accept surrender.
... about this GOP healthcare plan....I feel the MSM, pundits, etc. are all weighing in putting their spin on it so that now it is as muddled as Obamacare was....were I President Trump, I would take two of my most knowledgeable and trusted advisors, understand all the twists and turns then r-e-p-e-a-l the entire Obamacare....it should not be patched, can’t be patched or repaired, it is a complete mess.
Bingo they need to sh*t can Obamacare and use the free market SOCIALIST MEDICINE is a leach on the tax payer.
Ryancare is a rearranging of Obamacare, it is not repeal.
All of the new federal agencies created by Obamacare need to be eliminated.
All of the power given to Fedzilla over health care and medical records must be eliminated.
The Uniparty eunuchs wants to preserve the federal infrastructure of Obamacare. That is the real purpose of Ryancare, and also covering more illegal aliens.
I agree with Ruddy on this, cover the uninsured poor and near-poor with Medicaid, and create a real private market for everyone else.
The main problem is that the concept of healthcare insurance for all has been adopted by both parties to maintain their careers. Personally, I’m sick of having had the discipline throughout my life to make responsible decisions (including taking a huge pay cut to work at a job that guarantees me benefits in my retirement) only to now see the irresponsible without insurance become a drain on my income at this late date.
