ROFL! Wasn’t there a reporter durning Katrina or another flood, placed into some kind of puddle so it looked like he was thigh high in water, and some people walked by in about 2 inches of water??

Often the concern for schools isn’t getting the children there - it is getting them home afterwards. Our projection is falling (I’m a dozen miles west of NYC in NJ), but it is still expected to snow for hours.

In the past hour it switched over to sleet here in Newtown, CT. The accumulating snow appears to be done - we got about 8 inches. So just a standard run-of-the-mill March winter storm in these parts. We usually get our last winter storm around this time of year. In a couple of weeks, we'll all be thinking about spring. I was talking to my office in Manhattan and the streets there are just slushy and wet. If I had gone in, I would have had just a normal day. Well at least I'm getting my paperwork and reports all caught up with.

Almost without fail, the biggest hyped storms turn out to be duds. It's the surprise storms that tend to clobber us. And these forecasts are done by the same people who are 100% sure of global warming years from now!

Yes....I think the reporter was in a small boat in (a puddle) of water....when people walked past him, from behind. LOLOL.

The report, this morning, reminded me a little bit of that!!

I was set to fly into Albany tonight. They cancelled my flight on Sunday.

I have to leave Saturday now. It's OK with me, it's 90 and sunny here.

Bread/eggs/milk/TP sales up 100%, though.

Why is it that these heavy storms prompt people to make French Toast?

French toast and/or Waffles are “traditional” for snow storms and blizzards.

Fried egg sandwiches, grilled cheese & soup, etc etc etc...

"Red skies in the morning, sailors take warning. Red skies at night, sailors delight."

We had a similar thread a couple of years ago when a major snowstorm that was predicted to hit NYC turned into a minor snowfall.

Everyone was complaining that "the National Weather Service got it wrong," but I had a sense that it wasn't as wrong as we thought. I was up early that morning and saw the most brilliant red sunrise I've ever seen on the East Coast, so I figured there was a whopper of a storm out there east of New York City.

Sure enough, eastern Long Island and the Providence and Boston areas got 24+ inches of snow.

LOL. I’m sure Rush has seen a few snowstorms, since they’re Canadian.

Since radar and instant communication - we have begun to complain if the weather prediction is a few miles off. IMHO, the meteorologists do a great job. I have not seen any reports of death or injury on the roads - so it is commendable that people are taking precautions and staying home where possible. God bless
