Democratic Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom is drafting a health care plan for California that he plans to unveil as a core component of his gubernatorial run, based in part on the universal health care program he signed into law when he was mayor of San Francisco.

Newsom, seen as a strong contender in the increasingly crowded field of candidates vying to succeed Gov. Jerry Brown in 2018, is staking out an ambitious plan to rein in rising health care costs, expand universal access to people across the state regardless of income or immigration status and preserve coverage for the estimated 5 million Californians who risk losing their insurance under President Donald Trump’s changes.

“I think that it’s inevitable in this country that, after all the trials and errors, we find ourselves face-to-face with a Medicare-for-all conversation,” Newsom said. “That’s what we are pursuing.

So, he enabled legislation as mayor of SF to have universal health insurance there? Well, how is it working out? Are SF residents seeing better healthcare at lower prices? Cost overruns? Tax increases? Unpredicted numbers of illegal aliens soaking up benefits?

Let’s find out how their plan worked out before we say it should go statewide.

Free healthcare for everybody in the People’s Republic of California, because their current budget shortfalls are not large enough!

Such vast, social-engineering schemes can ultimately, only be paid with the ability to print one’s own fiat, unbacked currency and issue massive debt in that same currency. It is simply impossible for California to collect enough tax to make such a scheme work.

But, let California try. That’s how Federalism works.

But under no circumstances should the Federal Government pay even once cent to this scheme.

Let it come out of his pocket. Indigent and exceptional healthcare costs are already obliterating CA’s budget.

Of course it will! All residents “regardless of income or immigration status” will be covered. How to pay for it? Tax the rich and the evil corporations and ask Uncle Sam to lend a hand. It’ll be great. What kind of medical treatment everyone will get, well that’s a different topic for a different day.

California and NY need to work with Pres. Trump to lead the states to put a stop to unconstitutional federal taxes, taxes that Congress cannot justify under its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers.
"Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States.” —Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.

From related threads …

Once unconstitutional taxes are stopped then the states will probably find a tsunami of new revenues that they won’t know what to do with. Each state can establish its own healthcare program, improve public schools, police and firefighting services for starters.

Drain the swamp! Drain the swamp!

Remember in November ’18 !

Since Trump entered the ’16 presidential race too late for patriots to make sure that there were state sovereignty-respecting candidates on the primary ballots, patriots need make sure that such candidates are on the ’18 primary ballots so that they can be elected to support Trump in draining the unconstitutionally big federal government swamp.

Such a Congress will also be able to finish draining the swamp with respect to getting the remaining state sovereignty-ignoring, activist Supreme Court justices off of the bench.

Noting that the primaries start in Iowa and New Hampshire in February ‘18, patriots need to challenge candidates for federal office in the following way.

Patriots need to qualify candidates by asking them why the Founding States made the Constitution’s Section 8 of Article I; to limit (cripple) the federal government’s powers.

Patriots also need to find candidates that are knowledgeable of the Supreme Court's clarifications of the federal government’s limited powers listed below.

And, Cali physicians will be scouting openings and availabilities in "red" states, and moving out forthwith.

This is such a tragedy. There are many good people in Cali that do not deserve this (yes, they are outvoted by illegals and progressives).

Newsom' proposal is playing with peoples' health and ruining a state.

Fiscal crisis coming like an aircraft carrier bearing down on a rowboat.

They seem to imagine the Feds will be like parents to their rescue when it hits.
