Obamacare Victims Tell Their Horror Stories at The White House

President Trump met with a number of Americans deeply and negatively affected by Obamacare at the White House Monday as the administration tries to sell the American Health Care Act.

"Our rates are three times what they were before Obamacare started. We have one provider in the county," Carrie Couey of Colorado said. "We have very little options for what we can and cannot do. We are a small business, but we aren't brick and mortar we are cattle ranchers. We can't afford our equipment anymore if we're paying these rates year after year after year. Our food source is in jeapardy because of this heath care law." "We were uninsured in December, they dropped us for the third time after we paid over $50,000 last year for healthcare expenses," Couey continued.

Another woman, Brittany Ivey from Georgia, had a similar story and explained her family has been struggling to keep their personal finances afloat under Obamacare rate increases.

"It's been hard," Ivey said. "It's almost put our family into financial ruin."

A woman from Arizona, where premiums went up by 116 percent, said costs from Obamacare became so overwhelming she opted out of health insurance altogether and pays the penalty instead.

“I went to the doctor about a pain in my leg. The doctor came in and looked at my leg and she told me to eat more greens, particularly arugula. I asked her, “Dr. Obama, what will that do to help my leg pain?” and she shouted at me, “Eat your greens like I tell you to. I know what is good for you!” And she turned and walked out, nearly hitting me with that big butt of hers.”

My question is, how is Ryan’s plan opening up more options? I know they promise better this are planned, but forgive me for not trusting them.

I only have Medicare Part A. I found if I ask upfront "what is the discount if I pay by cash or check today?" I fare quite well. Another surprise: When I was prescribed pain killers, I said I didn't want them. The doctor said he'd prefer that I have them anyway (you can't make this stuff up) and then prescribed one that only cost $12 for a one-week supply.

My assumption at that point was that doctors want patients to have pain killers whether they need them or not, so they won't be bothered for a prescription later on. I found it quite appalling that a doctor would INSIST that a patient take a pain killer. FWIW, I didn't need the poisons. One day my shoulder hurt, and Blackberry Brandy was just fine.

That’s what I do. I shop around and get big discounts for paying cash. And, as a side note, it is amazing how more inexpensive procedures and tests are in Texas compared to California. Wonder why?/s

“...they go to walkin clinics or pharmacies for injections and the clinics and pay cash for regular doctor visits...”

Yep. That’s what I do. Went to the doctor in January for my annual checkup and paid $275 in cash. If I need to go in for a prescription, it costs $75 for the office visit and maybe $30 for the meds. And when you figure that I only go to the doctor 1 or 2 times a year, why would I want to pay $5,000 for an insurance plan when I only spend $600 now without insurance?

Yeah, I have to pay a penalty at tax time but I still save $2K a year by not having insurance.

The non-Freedom Caucus never once put up a candidate to run against Boehner or Ryan.

Not sure ending Medicare is a winner, after people have paid into it their whole life. A starter would be ending Medicaid for illegals and refugees, or even immigrants that didn’t pay into the system.

Price was on Meet the Press claiming that nobody will be worse off because of this replacement plan. I guarantee THAT will come back to haunt him.

RINOs are frightened liberal news media will say they took away free coverage for x amount of people.

Have some courage to just say "The US Government was not designed to provide healthcare" and get the government out!

You are correct.

Some doctors are capitalizing on the deductions by going concierge. They are telling patients that they can become concierge patients for X amount of $’s.

When the patients balk, they tell them that amount is their yearly deductible. They will be closing their practices to only concierge patients. The less communicative docs are just telling patiens what it will cost per year.

One of our neighbors was spitting mad last week when their FP told them that he was going concierge and what the yearly cost would be for the couple and their 3 teenagers. The family cost $7500/year.

After she quit ranting, my wife asked her what their deductible was under Obamacare.

Anycare to guess what their yearly Deductible was/is?

My wife told our neighbor to go with the concierge if they liked the doctor or to use the walk in Clinics when they needed a doctor. With 3 active teens in competitive sports, they could end up in an expensive hospital stay if they decided to go without anything.

I agree, if someone’s paid into soc sec all their life, they should get their money.

End it for illegals, immigrants, refugees, & anyone who didn’t pay into it.

“I found an alternative that costs about 70% LESS than a regular plan. It doesn’t meet the Federal requirements under the ACA but I am now able to check the “Exempt” box on my tax return so I pay no penalty.”

Could you share what the alternative is? Thanks!

We have friends like you that shop around re tests and procedures here in Californicator land.

It is amazing how much they can save even in the same city. Or they drive 12 to 15 miles and save even more.

Charge back the cost of medical care for those people against whatever foreign aid their home countries receive.

In the last 6 years, I had minor knee surgery and major foot surgery by two different Orthopods.

They know that I have a high pain tolerance, do great on oral Toradol and then Aleve.

Both of them rxed over 100 of the heavy scheduled opiates.

On the knee operation, I took 2 tabs, one the night post op and one the next morning.

The same with the foot operation.

Our local hospital phramacist and local Leo’s host drive through days to drop off unused Rxes. I make sure both a leo and pharmacist get my drop offs and it goes into lock box.

Both MDs when asked why they worte such a large # in the rx, both said they seldom got static on large post op/procedure rxes. If they wrote 5 rxes for 20 for the same patient they could raise red flags.

Why can’t we take the really hard cases, the truly poor and just issue them health stamps, like we do food stamps and be done with it?

Stamps are so 70's. Cards are the in thing now. We wouldn't want them to be embarrassed by showing up with stamps now would we?

Since Congress exempted itself from Obamacare and feels no pain, it will never “get it.” Same for federal employees.

The purpose of Obamacare was to destroy the middle-class. It is doing a fine job.

Ok, let’s give them health stamp cards. Just give them something to get them out of the ERs.

There will always be a percentage of the population who just can’t make it, for a lot of reasons, mental illness, physical problems, addictions, poverty mentality. It seems a quasi food stamp program would be the cheapest, most efficient way to give them the most basic coverage.
