Grass instead of corn fed cow butter is quite a bit better. You can pickup some at trader joes if you want to try it.

Costs too much.

May be better, but not correlated to the higher price.

People at work love my cookies and cinnamon rolls and are always asking for recipes. I give the recipes out usually, but don’t tell them the secret: Irish Kerrygold butter and I only use C&H sugars (granulated, brown, and especially the confectioners). Never use generic store brand sugar... it’s beet sugar, not cane sugar, and yes, it makes a big difference, especially in icings.

If it's not Wisconsin Butter or Cheese, Wisconsin BANS it.

Alan Alexander Milne

The King’s Breakfast - Poem by Alan Alexander Milne

The King asked
The Queen, and
The Queen asked
The Dairymaid:
“Could we have some butter for
The Royal slice of bread?”
The Queen asked the Dairymaid,
The Dairymaid
Said, “Certainly,
I’ll go and tell the cow
Now
Before she goes to bed.”

The Dairymaid
She curtsied,
And went and told
The Alderney:
“Don’t forget the butter for
The Royal slice of bread.”
The Alderney
Said sleepily:
“You’d better tell
His Majesty
That many people nowadays
Like marmalade
Instead.”

The Dairymaid
Said, “Fancy!”
And went to
Her Majesty.
She curtsied to the Queen, and
She turned a little red:
“Excuse me,
Your Majesty,
For taking of
The liberty,
But marmalade is tasty, if
It’s very
Thickly
Spread.”

The Queen said
“Oh!:
And went to
His Majesty:
“Talking of the butter for
The royal slice of bread,
Many people
Think that
Marmalade
Is nicer.
Would you like to try a little
Marmalade
Instead?”

The King said,
“Bother!”
And then he said,
“Oh, deary me!”
The King sobbed, “Oh, deary me!”
And went back to bed.
“Nobody,”
He whimpered,
“Could call me
A fussy man;
I only want
A little bit
Of butter for
My bread!”

The Queen said,
“There, there!”
And went to
The Dairymaid.
The Dairymaid
Said, “There, there!”
And went to the shed.
The cow said,
“There, there!
I didn’t really
Mean it;
Here’s milk for his porringer,
And butter for his bread.”

The Queen took
The butter
And brought it to
His Majesty;
The King said,
“Butter, eh?”
And bounced out of bed.
“Nobody,” he said,
As he kissed her
Tenderly,
“Nobody,” he said,
As he slid down the banisters,
“Nobody,
My darling,
Could call me
A fussy man -
BUT
I do like a little bit of butter to my bread!”

Alan Alexander Milne

About to start my Spring diet. New and better kinds of butter are not a temptation I need at the moment!

Germans claim that Luxembourg butter is the best - or at least better and the German butter.

LOL. If you like butter, then give Keto a shot. It’s low carb/high fat and you can have all the butter, bacon, and beef you want. It keeps cravings low while loading up on filling food.

https://www.reddit.com/r/keto/wiki/keto_in_a_nutshell

I lost 70 pounds on the diet and I get to enjoy good food every day.

I have read that French butter is different, and that makes the pastry and croissants there taste significantly better.

Not sure if it the cows’ diet or the type of cow that is responsible for the difference.

Yes. This is butter with its own terroir.

http://www.isigny-ste-mere.com/en/our-butters/our-buttermaking-know-how

"Protected Denomination of Origin (PDO)

"This is an official mark of quality. First of all, it guarantees that the butter has been made locally from authentic milk produced in the terroir. It comes exclusively from pasture-fed cows in a zone made up of 192 communes, mainly in the Manche and Cotentin départements. This rich milk has a unique nutritional profile."

Haha! I think this is funny. In the 1950’s when margarine became popular, there was such a law also in Minnesota. It was supposed to protect the dairy market.

We would have to squeeze the yellow dye bubble and then play with the bag of margarine to get the color equally dispersed in the margarine. But I think that silly law expired about 40 years ago

I was about to write roughly the same thing. And they serve it to you large slabs, about six times what an American restaurant would put out. We used to be able to find their lamb in the stores too, but no more. Only Australian (not as good) and American grown (to which I have no objection at all). As they say in Kiwi-land, “Put a dead stick into the New Zealand ground and it will grow”. Pity about the earth quakes, volcanoes, and left wing nut jobs.
