Hundreds of ISIS fighters pour into Raqqa as Kurdish forces advance

DAMASCUS, SYRIA (13:05) – According to the opposition-linked Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), 300 high-ranking Islamic State (ISIS) commanders and their families have fled the city of Raqqa amidst the unhindered advances of the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) coalition.

The escapees were forced to use ferryboats to get across the river from Raqqa as Coalition airstrikes have destroyed all bridges across the Euphrates in Syria. While a detachment ferried for Deir Ezzor, the others fled for eastern Hama’s countryside where the group still enjoys relative stability.

As the top commanders escape Raqqa, ISIS sharia men lobbied local youth in mosques to take on arms to defend their city from the “American rapists” and “atheist Kurds”. On the other hand, 230 fighters and field commanders have arrived in the city from the eastern countryside of Aleppo and Deir Ezzor to support its defense.

It is unlikely that this minuscule number of reinforcements will change the tide of the battle against the powerful YPG-led SDF unless thousands more pour into the city to repel the anti-terrorist forces nearing the city.

What a cesspool we have created Saddam and Assad knew how to keep these Muslim vermin under control Islam cannot be part of civilized society. Send them all back

100% correct. This is of no interest to the U.S. Furthermore, nation building and dictator removing is a waste. I am as hawkish as one can get but American military involvement in the Mideast should only be for dire national security interest. America should not be the mercenary army for anybody. Let Islamic petrofreaks Saudi Arabia and Iran sort it all out.

“The escapees were forced to use ferryboats to get across the river from Raqqa as Coalition airstrikes have destroyed all bridges across the Euphrates in Syria.”

A total joke. If our generals weren’t pussies, anything that dared get out in that river should have attracted a swarm of attacking fighters. They can move 300 people in daylight across a river and not draw fire.

Assad is the most honest voice over there IMO.

I can go along with that, but I have always wondered how all those pickup trucks get to Iraq.

Who makes those trucks and why are those companies not being put out of business for supplying them?

Without the pickups they would be sand fleas hoofing it to where ever they are going.

Saddam,Assad and Gaddafi. There are some dictators that the world is better off leaving in power.

Wish people would at least take a minute to see reality.

The Kurds are Islamic and deserve our support. They love Americans. Don’t believe it? Go there and you will be treated better than ever in your entire life.

The Kurds are doing the heavy lifting; the Turks are threatening to turn on them at any moment and they send their soldiers, women among them against ISIS doing what no one else has accomplished.

That hard work is rooting out the Sunni forces of ISIS led by Saddam’s Baathist officer corp. (That’s who leads ISIS.)

While Islam has not seen any renaissance, there are many who are not only friends of America they love America and its citizens. We should not turn our back on these people or the Coptic Christians in Egypt.

“Saddam crushed the ISIS types”

Not true. During the Iran/Iraq War, Iran appealed to Shi’ites in Iraq to rebel. Saddam responded with his Religion Initiative, where he cultivated Sunni religiosity in support of the regime.

Saddam began a mosque building spree, founded the Islamic University from which Abu Bakr al Baghdadi later graduated, and began training, funding and hosting Sunni terrorist organizations in Iraq. Those efforts really picked up after the Gulf War.

I supported arming the Mujahideen in the 80's. Kind of like a way to get back at the Soviets for Vietnam.

In hind site we never should have supported them. We inadvertently created al-qaeda.
