Wonder if all that heavy rain California’s had causes erosion in these faults and actually increases the earthquake risk?

With the land on the west side of the San Andreas fault gradually moving north, eventually the people in Hollywood threatening to move to Canada will have their wish come true.

The real point here: This is all due to man-made climate change.

California should not worry about earthquakes causing it to fall into the ocean. They should worry about too many crazy people tipping it into the ocean.

Geologic history for CA says to see an increase in activity 10-24 months AFTER a large rain season.
The theory says that it takes that long for the water to reach the fault depth and thus act as a lubricant.
This is one of the primary reasons LA has opposed re-flooding the Salton Sea from the Gulf of CA.
Analysis indicated it would cause increased quakes in So-Cal.

It was just last year, IIRC, they connected two other faults inland that they thought were separate, and said that it could produce a devastating quake.
Have they not ever considered that ALL the faults in SoCal are connected?........................

What this map does not show is the Rose Canyon fault running under downtown San Diego. It only shows the undersea portion of the fault.

Newport Beach down to La Jolla is some of the most expensive real estate in the country. The earthquake would wipe out all of the surf spots the Beach Boys sang about in “Surfing USA.”
