I wish we could repeal and replace Ryan and McConnell.
BTW...I stole that line from the comments on this article at American Thinker. If you link to the article take a look at the comments, they’re pretty good.
The “problem” is the gutlessness of the GOPe... THEY are the problem.
The only problem we have is the republican party and its members in the House and Senate.
THE.
ONLY.
PROBLEM.
I don't think Trump is a liar.
killing the filibuster and leaving mccain, graham, flake, collins, et al standing will not work. (may come close)
What the Senate Majority has to do is to enforce the meaning of ‘filibuster.’ Filibuster involves constant and continued occupation of the floor by the minority party, but all the RINOs have been doing is caving under the ‘threat’ of a filibuster. Make them do it, 24/7 until they get tired and then vote.
Either that or get rid of the stupid rule - it isn’t ‘law’ to begin with.
I am sure in McConnell’s perspective, the 60 vote rule gives him veto power over Trump. It is all about power. For the Republicans who vote that clown in, it is all about being bought off.
Well, I wrote to my Rep. and asked him to vote for clean repeal. He did in 2015...he can do it again.
Why do Republicans want to own this mess?
After 8 years of unmitigated disaster, why do they think government has a role in running healthcare?
Get rid of the law, offer deductions for premiums or something and get out of the business...
Oh btw: Medicaid expansion: unless there was further legislation I am unaware of, the funds for medicare expansion were only slated to be offered for 3 years. I have heard over and over the Republicans want to cut it...seems to me they were supposed to end. I know many states like NC did not expand Medicare because after the fed teat was pulled away, the state would be stuck with the cost.....
Yet now mean ole pubbies want to take away the candy...
Hmmm
One of the most unpopular pieces of legislation ever crafted and flipping 8 democrat senators is out of the question? I am not buying it.
The problem is the Republican establishment doesn’t have any real interest in changing anything, unless of course, it helps their own self enrichment at the expense of the American people.
Neither do I, in fact, I'm certain that he is not. Ryan and McConnell are another story though. I don't believe for one second that the bill Ryan is proposing will be improved in any meaningful way. If anything they'll only make the situation worse.
Simple majority for all votes except constitutionally mandated super-majority items.
Sounds a lot like ‘we’ll have to pass it in order to (see what was in it) fix it.
Gee, where have we heard that before.
I’m confused. Didn’t Harry Reid already do away with the 60 vote rule?
Your argument is really an argument that the Senate should not exist.
I’m open to the argument, but I don’t think I agree. In fact, I would like to return to the 2/3 of Senators present cloture rule, with the caveat that there would be no “announced” filibusters, that is, to keep the floor Senators would have to actually keep the floor.
The unlimited debate rule in the Senate obstructs democracy, which to me is an excellent outcome.
