Starbucks' decision to hire 10,000 refugees at locations worldwide is hurting the coffee giant's brand and could impact earnings, analysts say.
Credit Suisse issued a hold rating on Starbucks, noting "significant volatility in recent weeks," CNBC reports. According to YouGov BrandIndex, consumer perception levels for the company have fallen by two-thirds since late January.
While perception of the world's largest coffee chain is still positive overall, it is significantly lower than it was prior to CEO Howard Schultz's pledge to hire refugees in response to President Trump's executive order barring refugees from certain countries.
In response to Starbucks' refugee hiring plan, consumers who supported President Trump launched a boycott of the chain.

When a company announces that its coffee will henceforth be brewed by people who adhere to their religion’s tenets of not using toilet paper and instead wiping their anuses with their bare hands, there does tend to be some loss of consumer base.
Yup. Some permanent damage done there which cannot be undone.

Starbucks should hire whom they wish. Legal Immigrants don’t bother me but what bothers me is their CEO serving me a heap of his leftist trips with my coffee. Same with Target. Like Trump said, what’d I care what Target does with their bathrooms. But you want to make a statement? Then yeah I will make mine by it giving you a dime.
