The New York Times has a dilemma. Like every other newspaper, the Times characterized as baseless President Trumps recent accusation that his campaign was wiretapped. Or, more precisely, the paper said that Trump didnt provide any evidence of the alleged wiretapping.
Fair enough. Trump didnt give any proof. He just sent out one of his infamous tweets. But does that mean hes wrong? Ill get back to that.
The reason the Times has a dilemma is that, on Jan. 20, the paper ran a front page story with the headline Wiretapped Data Used in Inquiry of Trump Aides.
There were four bylines on that story, which read, American law enforcement and intelligence agencies are examining intercepted communications and financial transactions as part of a broad investigation into possible links between Russian officials and associates of President-elect Donald J. Trump, including former campaign chairman Paul Manafort, current and former senior American officials said.
So, would the Times like to retract the Jan. 20 front page article? Or would it like to amend its piece about Trumps allegations that his campaign was wiretapped by adding, Trump may not have proof, but the Times confirmed back in January that wiretapping did occur.(continued)

They need to print it to know what’s in it.
Well now we have Wikileaks revealing that the CIA can fake source code to make it look like the tapping can come from anywhere.

See 26 for comparison.
good night - that’s even Worse! overseas wiretaps on American citizens? on who’s orders? how deep is this rabbit hole?
Liz Spayd is the public editor for NYT? Guess she can’t have kids with a name like that.
Hilarious, bump.
There is definitely no crickets from the Times. Read post #5 above.
The Times responded and clarified what they meant by “wiretap”. The Public Editor wrote a column yesterday.
Actually, that one is very easy!
"Anonymous sources" - the cornucopia of the MSM!
The Democrat house organ New York Times is already trying to back out of their Jan 20 admission that Trump campaign was wiretapped now that it has come back to bite them.Their public editor wrote a column today saying that a]Obama did not order it and b]that the tab was legal because allegedly info was garnered “overseas” and no warrant is required for overseas surveillance.I would probably put the Times as the leader of the most dishonest sleaze of the MSM.
Hannity CONFIRMS Obama Court Order & WIRETAPPING Donald Trump Tower | Hannity 3/8/17 | Fox News
Everyone with half a brain knows Trump was wiretapped...shorthand for ANY kind of surveillance.
They also know release of such information is illegal.
Gen Flynn
Austin PM
Mexican President
Definitely not a coincidence
Elisabeth Bumiller, the bureau chief, said the January story was referring to information picked up from wiretaps and other intelligence collected overseas, a process that requires no warrants.
MUSCULAR (surveillance program)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
MUSCULAR (DS-200B), located in the United Kingdom,[1] is the name of a surveillance programme jointly operated by Britain’s Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) and the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) that was revealed by documents which were released by Edward Snowden and interviews with knowledgeable officials.[2] GCHQ is the primary operator of the program.[1]GCHQ and the National Security Agency have secretly broken into the main communications links that connect the data centers of Yahoo! and Google.[3]Substantive information about the program was made public at the end of October 2013.

Overview[edit]
The programme is jointly run by:
Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) (United Kingdom)
U.S. National Security Agency (NSA)
MUSCULAR is one of at least four other similar programs that rely on a trusted 2nd party, programs which together are known as WINDSTOP. In a 30-day period from December 2012 to January 2013, MUSCULAR was responsible for collecting 181 million records. It was however dwarfed by another WINDSTOP program known (insofar) only by its code DS-300 and codename INCENSER, which collected over 14 billion records in the same period.[4]
Operational details:
According to the leaked document the NSAs acquisitions directorate sends millions of records every day from internal Yahoo! and Google networks to data warehouses at the agencys headquarters at Fort Meade, Maryland. The programme operates via an access point known as DS-200B, which is outside the United States, and it relies on an unnamed telecommunications operator to provide secret access for the NSA and the GCHQ.[3]
According to the Washington Post, the MUSCULAR program collects more than twice as many data points (selectors in NSA jargon) compared to the better known PRISM.[2] Unlike PRISM, the MUSCULAR program requires no (FISA or other type of) warrants.
Because of the huge amount of data involved, MUSCULAR has presented a special challenge to NSA’s Special Source Operations. For example, when Yahoo! decided to migrate a large amount of mailboxes between its data centers, the NSA’s PINWALE database (their primary analytical database for the Internet) was quickly overwhelmed with the data coming from MUSCULAR.[5]
Closely related programmes are called INCENSER and TURMOIL. TURMOIL, belonging to the NSA, is a system for processing the data collected from MUSCULAR.[1]
According to a post-it style note from the presentation, the exploitation relied on the fact that (at the time at least) data was transmitted unencrypted inside Google’s private cloud, with “Google Front End Servers” stripping and respectively adding back SSL from/to external connections. According to the Washington Post: “Two engineers with close ties to Google exploded in profanity when they saw the drawing.” After the information about MUSCULAR was published by the press, Google announced that it was working on deploying encrypted communication between its datacenters.[2]

The precedent was started with/by Harry Truman.
"This has been basically going on since Truman got rid of the OSS and formed the CIA and NSA. Part of their charters was not to spy on or monitor Americans."
So, we monitored Brits, Aussies, Kiwis and Canutes and they monitored our citizens to get around those bans re not monitoring your own citizens. America and the 4 countries mentioned above, formed the 5 Eyes.
So here is how this could have gone down. Obama asks Clapper privately to monitor Trump Tower and Trump. Or Obama asked Lynch to ask Clapper to monitor Trump Tower and Trump.
Then, Clapper could have asked Canada, the UK, Australia or New Zealand to spy on Trump and any American or Americans without ordering it to be done by the NSA or FBI. Leaving Obama able to say, I didnt order the spying on Trump Tower, or as Nixon said decades ago, I am not a crook!
This has been going on for decades starting with #1 through #3 below:
1. Project 5 eyes
2. Project Echelon
3. Project Prism
4. Muscular the current program run by the Brits GCHQ and probably financed by the CIA.
#1 and #2 go back to the early days after President Truman got rid of the OSS and established the CIA and the NSA.
As noted, neither agency, CIA/NSA were supposed to spy or monitor American citizens as per their charters.
With 5 eyes, we would/could spy on the UK/Brits, Australians, Kiwis and Canadians and let the mother countries know when they might have problems. Then, they would monitor American citizens like Trump and his people for us and give us the data on those American Citizens.
Supposedly the countries mentioned above cant spy on their own people. Our NSA/CIA/? Could do that for our 5 EYE buddies and report back to the mother country if there was a problem with their citizens.
Echelon came about a little later. With the 5 eyes lateral spying agreement, Echelon became solidified and very functional for decades. We monitored their citizens, and they monitored our citizens like candidate Trump and his people.
Prism supposedly replaced 5 eyes and Echelon, but the 5 Eyes/Echelon concept was/is still there.
Muscular is the current joint program run by the Brits GCHQ and probably financed by the CIA.
So Obama would not had to ask NSA/FBI to spy on Trump. He could have had Clapper ask his counterpart in the UK or Canada or any of other 5 Eye countries to monitor Trump Towers and listen in to what was said. At this point, it was probably the Brits GCHQ and its MUSCULAR program.
The FBI may have put bugs in or set up electronic interceptions at Trump Towers for their Canadian intel counterparts to monitor all verbal and digital transmission to and from Trump Tower in October of last year until this year up to Trump becoming President. There is minimal need for bugs with today's state of electronic monitoring from afar.
So did GB monitor Trump and his people in Trump Towers, in NYC, and then report back to Obama, NSA, FBI and ?. If so, Obama could deny that he ordered the spying?
Obama is playing a game by saying he didnt order the FBI?NSA to spy on candidate Trump and his people. Obama probably had Clapper or ? ask his Brit/Canadian counterparts to spy on Trump and his people. Or he had Lynch ask Clapper, then Clapper asked Brits or one of other 5 Eye countries to monitor Trump Tower, Trump and his people.
Have fun with this data! Dont try searching for this late at night to avoid getting insomnia. Take a baby aspirin to keep from stroking out.
Remember Clapper is probably somehow involved and is a first class liar. Lynch may have gotten involved while exchanging pictures of grandkids with Bubba in her plane in Arizona.
Rush said today that they removed wiretapped from that story today. Not the story just the wiretapped part.
Hey, NYT: You need a bigger boat.
“There was no evidence whatsoever, at the time, of collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russians,” Clapper, a career intelligence officer, told ABC News’ Brian Ross in an interview Monday for “World News Tonight.”
Now that the Trump-Russia fake news story is crumbling as Rolling Stone writer Matt Taibbi warned liberals, how can the mainstream media continue to report on this fact-free topic.
Now that the Trump-Russia fake news story is crumbling as Rolling Stone writer Matt Taibbi warned liberals, how can the mainstream media continue to report on this fact-free topic? Simple. By invoking masters of fiction in the form of spy novelists. Therefore it is appropriate that Associated Press writer Hillel Italie consulted several of those fiction writers to comment on fake news fiction.
