This article is a couple of years old but I thought you "Porky's" fans would be interesting to know that the character was based on a real person and a real bar. I've driven past the current location many times.

The link doesn’t seem to work. But I still will laugh when I see the movie.

Other than the howling female coach, hardly any of the actors became big stars...................Not counting the older ones who already had careers...................

“Porky’s had the FUNNIEST scene of all time. When the coaches tried to keep a straigh face when discussing “tallywhacker.” Finally even the principal couldn’t help but burst out laughing. I think even the pic of Ike joined in.

I think the fat female phys Ed teacher had a career as a character actor - I've seen her pop up in small roles in movies and TV over the years.

This scene still makes me wince.

Disappointing article, little more than the excerpt you posted, no photos. Sounds like a very interesting story deserving of finding a few people who went there, some background and photography. This guy just phoned it in.

Thank you. Both links worked. The Baines family should have cooperated with the film. They would still probably be getting residuals.

That scene is also especially funny. You can’t help but laugh out loud when even the pricipal laughs.

Ms. Balbricker was based on a real person, too.

Well, at least we know it was based on a real person and bar. That was back in the days when Broward county was chock full of rednecks. Nowadays the closest you find to a redneck in Broward are the wannabee cowboys of Cooper City.
