There are places that specialize in much older vehicle parts. Catalogs available on request. So they say. I’ve seen them. Well, at least one for ‘63 Novas.

UGH! Sticking with my older vehicles. I told my husband he's just going to have to learn to keep our old vehicles running for the next 50 yrs or so (if the Cubans can do it, surely we can, LOL).

That is my thought also. The mercedes which was Diana's death car was stolen, a few weeks before, and found with parts of its navigation system having been taken out. This is a weird thing for a car thief to do.
I cannot work out, exactly, how they would then have made sure that she was in that particular car, from the hotel fleet. But the hotel manager, Henri Paul, had a murky past, unexplained large sums in his bank account, and possible connections to security services. He took over the role of driver that night, and may have been told to pick up that car. Of course, in this scenario, he didn't realise that he was going to be wiped out as part of the plan. But that's typical.
