San Francisco Chronicle ^ | March 4, 2017 | Brett Barrouquere

For one West Texas city, the proposition may be simple: Take a contract to work on Donald Trump's border wall with Mexico and give up any work with the city.

An El Paso city councilman is pushing the idea of prohibiting the city from awarding any kind of contract to a vendor or company working on the proposed wall. The issue will come up Tuesday during a regular meeting of the council.

Two can play that game. Perhaps vendors will cut off the City of El Paso. Maybe gun manufacturers should not sell to the police force, since they don’t want to enforce the law.

That’s short for “A Texas city,” not “Texas City.”

EOD Ret’d, you say?? Sure you didn’t stand too close one time too many when disposing of excess munitions???

Ft. Sam Houston = San Antonio

Ft. Bliss = El Paso, several hundred miles west of Ft. Sam.

Sorry - had to pull your chain a little, former artillery here, always appreciated EOD.

Here’s how that works.

Someone tied to major vendors and players forms their own LLC. They then rent equipment, material, and workers from the vendor. They make money, dissolve when work completed, and voila. City council feels they’ve accomplished something and vendor made a tidy profit.

Politicians in border cities consider themselves Mexicans first. Their constituents are Mexicans.

It says “Texas city” ... not Texas City with a capital ‘C’. But at first glance I thought it was about Texas City.

Personally, I can’t tell much difference in El Paso and it’s sister city.

I am not sure that the City of El Paso wants to go there. They will get push back from the State of Texas along with the Federal government. I think they would cry uncle in short order.

Money and services go both ways......cut off services from the Feds and I’m sure the Feds can find something going the other way to El Paso

Instead of Building this wall with civilian contractors,The President should order the D.O.D. to build it.We should be able to get more than enough work done with the Navy SeaBees, Army Corp of Engineers and Air Force Red Horse Units.

It would be great training for them as well.
