Comey interfering with a Congressional investigation. Time to fall on his sword.
“senior American officials” = “unsubstantiated rumors” = fake news = the only thing that NYT and WaPo publish anymore.
Sessions could fire the deputy in question but since there is no DOJ investigation no problem. The Congressional investigation freezes any DOJ/FBI investigation.
That’s a hard one. I can’t imagine Trump blowing up at someone without there being a tactical motive but maybe I am speculating too much.
Whether Trump was actually upset or not, what Comey did, I think, has had the better effect. He has effectively called them out and I don’t think they have anything damning but they probably did go for the taps which does not look good for them in light of the identity of the winner of the election.

One could read it as Comey is siding with the Democrats, but Comey has now pushed the ball into the DOJ court. Interesting DOJ is silent about the matter. The old, "Wiretap??? Outrageous!!! We don't wiretap, do we DOJ? Er...DOJ???"
Comey could be playing smart politics here.

I'm afraid we're one hot-headed tweet away from a full pile-on from all sides against this president and his eventual removal from office. Trump better have all of his ducks-in-a-row for war with the deep state.
It's either the above or bend over and allow them to continue to run the country - as they have for decades now.
