“Officials see electrification as a way both to increase ridership and save money on operating costs.”

In a bygone era, reporters would have:

1) Named these ‘officials’

2) Asked exactly how electrification does all these wonderful things...because if spending $640 million would really save that much money over the long term, they wouldn’t need my tax money to do it.

“electrification as a way both to increase ridership and save money on operating costs.”

Only in Liberal Dream World does the type of power translate into more paying customers...if they don’t pay for it now, they won’t pay for it later!!

And only in California do the residents of a state buy the complete BS that your government is going to keep the price of electricity down when you’ve already been told your electric bill will be going through the roof!!

I’m betting they would spend half the money to electrify the train lines and the other half would go into their cocktail party and vacation fund.
